Day 1053: A Different College Campus

I talk all the time about how Disney pops up in my own life, but really Everyday Disney is about how the magic is a part of all of our lives. November 19 is, of course, the birthday of our favorite mouse, and it seems that another college in my area is all about celebrating Mickey! I woke up to a bunch of texts from my friend Ashley about how her college was making Mickey's birthday a big thing, and I asked her if I could share some of it here on the blog!

As you can see, Mickey was definitely the theme of the day at Marian University, and I'm so glad that Ashley was able to share these pictures with me so I could share them with you! How awesome is it that her college did this!?!

Day 926: Happy Birthday to Me!

My Birthday, at least over the past few years, has been nutoriously awesome. Two years ago I had the chance to spent my birthday at Walt Disney World, ending out the day by shutting out the Magic Kingdom as the last guests. What an amazing way to spent your 18th birthday, right? Then last year, I stayed home...not that it mattered to me because it brings one of the greatest flashbacks EVER!

Considering the fact that I have that tweet framed on my desk probably goes to show that I'm not ready to forget my tweet from Colin O'Donoghue anytime soon. And while I didn't get another tweet from him this year, I can say that I had a wonderful birthday...one that was definitely still filled with Colin. Day 563: DISNEYLAND!

We have come to yet another Happy Birthday to the Happiest Place on Earth, and I figure that in honor of this day I'd share a few Disneyland pictures from my trip in 2011!

My trip in 2011 was GREAT, and I'm super excited for things to come that DEFINITELY involve Disneyland! I hate to say it, but more will come at the beginning of 2015, simply because it's going to be one BIG year!

Day 561: Basically Famous

So I'm still no where the level of famous that some people are, and I certainly don't want to be. It sounds like a lot of work.

But let's review. Since I've become such a huge fan of OUAT (which really started in 2011, but didn't get bad until this last year), I've had just about one goal. Since we got into Disney for and I had to put my dream focus somewhere else, right? I set it on tweets from the cast and crew of Once Upon A Time.

As you all know, I've previously gotten tweets from several cast members. There's been favorites and retweets as well, and I have to simply give special shoutouts to Adam Horowitz for those two tweets and Gabe Khouth for being awesome all the time. Of course, the tweets I've gotten are not limited to that. In fact, prior to July 15, I've gotten notifications from 10 cast and crew members (not including multiples for a couple of them). That's a whole bunch!

But as you can imagine, there's a couple cast members that I set my sights on, most notably Colin O'Donoghue and Jennifer Morrison. As two of my top three favorite actors, of course they're going to be at the top of the list. I've been trying for months to get a tweet, and I decided that my birthday was going to be my goal. If I could get a tweet from Colin on my birthday my life would basically be complete.

Not that I thought any different of that day from any other day I had tweeted him. It's not exactly something I just started recently, and we all know how absolutely difficult it is to get a tweet from this guy.

My birthday started out right at midnight as some of my closest friends, who are awesome, texted or Facebooked me. Now, my friend Emily talked about how she wished she could get Colin for me for my birthday, and my best friends said the same. Then, my friend Allie sent me this:

And then one of my roommates for this next year, Ashley, sent me a picture of Colin as well. So I guess you could say that Colin was a popular theme on my facebook wall for my birthday this year. 

So I figured, well, I might as well tweet about it. Megan had sent Colin a tweet earlier in the day saying that a happy birthday would make my life, and then I tweeted and when a few minutes later my phone buzzed I HONESTLY THOUGHT IT WAS A JOKE. 

But nope...this happened: 

COLIN O'DONOGHUE TWEETED ME. HE ACTUALLY TWEETED ME. HE TOLD ME HAPPY BIRTHDAY. BLOODY HELL THIS REALLY IS THE BEST THING SINCE FINDING OUT WE WERE GOING TO DISNEY FOR BAND. 

Literally you guys have no clue how happy this makes me. Last night, I was trying to go to bed when I checked twitter and I ended up on his profile and the tweet is still sitting there obviously and then I got all smiley and was just WAYYYYYY too happy to sleep. BECAUSE COLIN TWEETED ME. 

And then, of course, everyone asked me what I'm going to do now. I've marched down Main Street, I've gotten a tweet from Colin, one of my favorite actors. Basically, my dreams have been fulfilled. So what's next? Well...there's always JMo. And now that this actually happened I have my sights set on thanking him in person someday. 

Because let's be real here. We all know I'm going to meet him someday. Whether or not I'll faint in the process though, that's another story.

Day 289: 90 Years of Magic

You know, it kind of sucks that today isn't day 290. That would be seriously awesome. Why? Because today is a very special day in the world of Disney! And you know what that means! Time for your Disney history, early!

Today in Disney History: 1923: The Disney Brothers Studio is founded as a partnership the day after Walt and his older brother Roy sign a contract with M.J. Winkler (A New York Cartoon distributor) to produce a series of animated short subjects entitled Alice Comedies. At this time, the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio is located on Kingswell Ave in Los Angeles, California. It is a structure that the brothers are renting - although in February 1924 they will move into the building next door, taking over the whole first floor. On this day, Walt also pens a letter to the parents of actress Virginia Davis persuading them to move to Hollywood (From Kansas City) so that she can star in his new combination live-action and animated shorts.

Yes, that means that today is the official birthday of the Walt Disney Company!

While there are many other birthdays we celebrate in the realm of Disney, this is, honestly, one of the most important. If the Disney Brothers Studio had not begun, then we wouldn't have all of the theme parks, or those classic movies we love. We wouldn't have any of the Disney Channel movies that my generation grew up with (I note this because my roommate and I were legitimately just talking about this).

Overall, our world would probably be pretty sad without the Disney company! Am I right, or am I right? Seriously, just think about how much would be different! Animation as a whole would be different. Many of your favorite NON-DISNEY movies probably wouldn't exist. That really is how much Walt Disney and his company did to change the face of entertainment.

And, oh gosh...there wouldn't be any Once Upon a Time. Or us. There's a fair chance that many of us wouldn't even exist. Legitimately.

Anyways, here's to a very happy 90th Birthday, Walt Disney Studios! Hope it's been a great one!

Day 274: Happy Birthday Walt Disney World!

It's the beginning of another month, but this time it's a very special first day of the month! That's right! It's October 1st, and that means that it's a big day for birthdays in the Disney World, no pun intended! Today we can wish a happy 42nd birthday to Magic Kingdom and a happy 31st birthday to Epcot, as well as various attractions and resorts of course.

I know last year was certainly a big year over at Epcot, and as I've said before, I'm quite happy that I was able to get some merchandise from that event, even if I did just buy it all for Christmas. I really do wish I could be at Epcot celebrating instead of here though, as college just isn't as interesting or awesome as Epcot is, especially since this year's Food and Wine Festival has finally begun.

Honestly though I don't know where else to go with this blog post. I mean, since I talk about Disney just about everyday of my life (ok...everyday of my life), it doesn't make much sense to do a whole post on the opening of Disney World or something. I talk about history stuff all the time, and that means that today's Disney History is just that as well, the opening of Disneyland.

And as you saw yesterday, Frumpstagram is over, so there isn't anything to talk about there either. Gosh, today is just not a good day for this blog! But it is at the same time because it's such a happy birthday day for Disney!

Day 217: Birthday Parties

Now, if you've been following my blog or know me (this seems to be a thing I say a lot), you'll already know that I spent my birthday at Walt Disney World. It's like a birthday party in itself. Sort of. Not really unless you really like spending your birthday either by yourself or with your family...or hundreds of people you don't know. But you do get to wear a special birthday button!

That's beside the point though. You see, one of my good friends had her birthday party today (and tomorrow technically, but I'm just talking about today). No, it wasn't at Disney, but that doesn't mean that it wasn't awesome, and there's plenty of little Disney references here and there too!

The party started out with lots and lots of food. You see, the idea of the party was to take ideas for things off of Pinterest and try them. On the top left you see Butterfinger puppy chow, definitely a Pinterest success. Next to it is just a picture of the napkins that she had, which I really liked and decided to include in this post. Then below you have like peanut butter ice cream sandwiches or something...only it's not really ice cream. It's more of a whipped kind of thing. Also a Pinterest win. And then we come to our Pinterest fail...Nutella Popsicles. I'm not sure what it was that we did wrong but they just did not work at all.  And we finished the beginning of the party off with Star Wars, Haunted Mansion LIFE and a legit picnic! 

We weren't done yet though! Next we tried M&M painting and honestly, it actually worked! Of course, I'm super excited for the D23 Expo that's coming up, so that's what I made with my painting. All you have to do for this one is take M&M's, sort them by color and add water. That's seriously it. Really easy, and a Pinterest win again!

You can't have a birthday party without cake either, and we made sure to have that! Trying yet another idea found on Pinterest, my friend printed out the numbers of how old she's turning, so 16, cut them out and put them on the cake before sprinkling the rest. At the end you take it off. Easy, although the paper kind of stuck to the frosting at first so we had to do s bit of surgery there. 

For dinner we tried a recipe we found on Pinterest: Lasagna Roll Ups. Now, we all know I'm lactose intolerant, so I couldn't really eat a ton of it, but it was DELICIOUS! Like seriously good. And not too difficult to make either. Granted, the tomato sauce all over my hands that got in my hangnails and burned like crazy when I was rolling the stuff didn't feel to great, but that was the only downside to the entire thing!

Of course, I was the "photographer" for all of this, so we took a lot of pictures. Here though is when we decided to actually try taking some legitimate pictures. Like my friend's mom bought the photobooth things, which are really awesome, and we used those for a while (like in the top left...I adore that picture). But then we decided to try something else we saw on Pinterest. Can you guess what it is? 

Hint hint: Think Darth Vader. 

Yeah, we tried Vadering, and honestly it kind of worked. It's a bit hard for the person actually taking the picture to get it where the person jumping isn't blurry, but I managed to do it for these couple of pictures that actually turned out pretty nice. =)

Finally, we finished the day with a swat at Fly Swatter Painting (which is really awesome! You should try it sometime!) And then we had light up balloons. You know, I shot those pictures in total darkness too, just with the high ISO. I'm pretty happy with them quite honestly. Although those balloons are like brighter than the average nightline so...yeah. 

I do hope my friend had a wonderful birthday party! Not that it's technically over, but still! I know I had a great time!

Here's today's Disney History: 1981: At Walt Disney World, site work begins on Horizons, an attraction in the not yet open Epcot Center. Actual construction on Horizon's building won't begin until January 1982, and both the attraction and Epcot will open the following October.

Day 194: Harrison Ford

As if I don't talk about him enough, here's an entire post dedicated JUST to Harrison Ford. But don't worry, I have a great reason this time! It's his birthday!

Is it weird or creepy that I know his birthday? Probably not on this one because he did turn 70 last year and that was all over the internet, and his birthday is two days before mine, so it's pretty easy to keep track of. In fact, on this day he turns 71, and you can see it in the Disney history down below! That's right, this whole thing is dedicated just to him.

Now, even though it won't occur in the vlog from my trip until tomorrow (technically), I figured that I'll talk a bit about the amazing experience I had in Florida involving Harrison Ford. No, he wasn't there, although I wish it had been that way. Still, I did get to do something I've been wanting to do for like...ever.

I GOT TO TOUCH HIS HAND PRINTS!!!!!!!

If you can't tell my the all caps there, I was just a bit excited, and if you watch tomorrow's vlog you'll know that I was, well, speechless for the most part. I honestly had no clue that his hand prints were there. I thought that he had never done so, even though I thought that I was somewhat weird.

Now what you don't see in the video is that I really was just walking up, and I normally walk up to the Great Movie Ride from the other direction, so that's probably why I had never seen it, but then, right in front of me was this:

Yeah, no joke. I started filming right then. I was like "Jonny...(that's my brother)...is that....???" and then I started freaking out on the video and then I went and touched his hand prints and it was the absolute greatest moment of my entire life.

Now, my obsession with Harrison Ford is kinda weird, because really he's one of my role models. I think the way he deals with the press is brilliant. Like, his personal life is his personal life. It's kept private. I mean, we know about his kids and how many times he's been married and his interests (granted...it's hard not to know that when he was referred to as the Best Carpenter in Hollywood when he was younger), but other than that, he likes to keep it to himself, and I think that's brilliant! We don't need to know everything he does, and he doesn't always need to be in a Magazine. That's a great way to live life. Second, acting is his JOB. Something he enjoys. And from what I've gathered that's all it is. Now, I would REALLY love to meet him someday and just ask him about stuff like this. Not totally about Star Wars or Indy or anything like that. Just about movies and why he does what he does. Like that sounds like an amazing conversation!

And you have to admit, he's got a pretty great sense of humor. If you've seen some of the newest interviews with him when they ask him about Star Wars, you know what I'm talking about, but if you haven't go watch them right away because it's so funny. And no, he's not grouchy. He's just playing with the obvious in order to avoid the questions because he technically can't release any information. All I have to say is, GO HARRISON FORD!

Here's today's Disney History, as if you didn't already know: 1942: Actor and producer Harrison Ford, famous for his performances as Han Solo in the original Star Wars trilogy and as the title character of Indiana Jones in the Indiana Jones film series, is born in Chicago, Illinois. Star Wars and Indiana Jones have been turned into some of the most popular attractions in Disney theme parks all over the world. Ford also starred in the Touchstone Pictures Film Six Days Seven Nights.
