Day 1199: Looking Up
Before coming to college, I'm sure I heard time and time again that junior year would be the hardest, and the comments from the upperclassmen that have surrounded me since day one only perpetuated that thought...but I'm pretty sure I didn't believe theme. Now here I am, about to say exactly what they told me: junior year is the most difficult year of college.
On a fundamental level, you usually have some of your toughest classes, and you have more of them during your junior year than you probably do any other year (I took an average of 18-19 credits/semester my first two years, and an average of 22 my junior year). Suddenly you're not only involved in student orgs, but you're helping run them, and thanks to all the college debt you've racked up, you now have two jobs instead of just one. Meanwhile, you're looking to the future, and instead of doing your homework for those 22 credits of class, you sit in your bed pondering if you actually picked the right major or if all your hard work is about to amount to nothing pretty quickly. It's a constant struggle, wondering where all this time to get things done is supposed to come from, even if you know very well that a lot of it was taken up by watching Netflix.
My junior year has been a bit different, and it's definitely been more stressful than anticipated. At the moment, it's mostly about taking things day by day: making sure I get up on time, finishing the dishes before I go to bed, double checking to make sure that the meeting I thought I had doesn't actually exist, and so on and so forth. It's almost as though for months I've simply been floating through the semester like a ghost, and it's an odd feeling that certainly doesn't help keep the blog updated.
But things are looking up. After our housing fiasco at the beginning of 2016, we're excited to have secured the apartment we want not only for the next school year, but for the summer as well, and in addition, after days of extra emails, requests, and confusion, my class schedule for next fall is also finalized, meaning that I have very little to worry about in the upcoming days. Alright, so that's a lie.
The end of the semester is nearing, and with it, I'm growing extra close to my next Disney vacation and having to move...again...from one apartment to another. With that Disney vacation comes new videos that have to be ready to filmed while in Florida, and each of those requires writing and research. Then there's the fact that Everyday Disney is still seriously far behind, and trust me, it's on my mind more than you might think. My attempt to find balance in my life is a slow process, and while it's going somewhat well, my blogging definitely gets the short straw, per usual.
But today I had Mickey Waffles, and that makes up for everything.
Have a magical day!

Day 1189: Walt and Waffles
I really need to invest some time into getting more pictures of Mickey Waffles so I don't have to use the same ones all the time. I mean really, I eat Mickey Waffles all the time! Why don't I have more pictures of them?
Regardless of that situation, there was a sizable amount of Disney lately, although this blog post probably won't be entirely long. One of my friends is an RA, and he just also happens to be a huge Disney fan. So for his floor program, he decided to do Walt and Waffles as a theme, asking if he could borrow my waffle irons to help with the job. Of course I agreed, because the world needs more Mickey Waffles, and so we spent an hour or so in the basement of one of the residence halls making Mickey Waffles and watching a documentary on Walt Disney.
I have to give him some credit too, because putting up with me during a documentary on Walt Disney isn't exactly the easiest thing to do. I tend to know a bunch of random stories outside of the film, which leads to me telling said stories during the film. Honestly, with so much random Disney knowledge in my head, it's hard to survive and not tell others about the spectacular Walt Disney!
After our waffles, we ended up watching one of the live-action Scooby-Doo movies, but that's beside the point and probably not nearly as interesting in regards to this blog as the Walt and Waffles event was. There could have been more people, but for some last minute planning, I have to say that it went pretty well!
Have a magical day!

Day 1179: Appointment at Noon
Welcome to Wisconsin, where it can officially be Spring and Easter can be in a couple of days, but there's a blizzard outside your window...again.
To be fair, it wasn't that much of a blizzard, at least not by me. I've spent the majority of my "spring break" holed up in my apartment at college, mostly because the internet is better and it's drastically quieter than everywhere else. After spending a couple of days in the apartment alone, both my roommates popped in and we ended up riding out the storm together...if it can even really be called a storm by Wisconsin standards. It doesn't mean that those of us here aren't incredibly jealous of our friends off in Florida, but still.
The nice thing about a snowstorm though? You don't have to go anywhere. You literally pretty much have to stay inside, or you can at least use it as an excuse to stay inside, which means you have plenty of time to work on everything that you've been procrastinating on for days...and time to make Mickey waffles. It occurred to me today that I post more pictures of sushi and Mickey Waffles than any other food though, so there's something to think about.
In case you were wondering what a snowstorm in Wisconsin in March looks like, I've got you covered there too. I somehow remembered that taking a "before" picture might be a good idea, and since I like right on the river, things worked out pretty well for me:
That picture represents exactly 24 hours folks. Like I said, welcome to Wisconsin.
Have a magical day!

Day 929: Big and Little
Disney is full of happiness, no matter if you're a fan of the films, Disneyland or Disney World, and celebrating that happiness is one of the things I love to do here on Everyday Disney! So today I figured I would share some of the Big (and Little) things that make up Disney that can always bring a smile to my face!
This one can almost go without saying, can't it? Regardless, there isn't much in this world that I love more than a trip to my one and true home, Walt Disney World. Sometimes it's with my family, sometimes with my friends, and occasionally I get a chance to explore the World all by myself. No matter how I travel to Walt Disney World (and this goes for Disneyland too), I'm extremely appreciative of the moments I'm able to spend there!
Finding new ways to bring Disney into my home is always an adventure and a joy, but one that's been with me as long as I can remember is the classic Mickey waffle. As far as I'm concerned it's the only acceptable shape for a waffle, and try as my roommates might for normal waffles, waffle days are exclusively Mickey waffle days in my world. It's small, but a Mickey waffle every so often can always bring a smile to any Disney lover's face.
I couldn't decide if DisneyBounding is a big thing or a little thing, but it's definitely on the list! It's one of those little bits of Disney that can easily make an appearance in your everyday life, but since I DisneyBound for OUAT and Disney Trips mostly, it does take some planning. As for my personal favorite DisneyBound I've ever done? It HAS to be my Pinocchio DisneyBound!
What's the easiest way to make your morning magical? A Disney Mug! Regardless of whether you drink coffee or tea (I drink both!), a Disney mug is a sure way to brighten up your day, and let me tell you, there's tons of unique mug choices out there! You're bound to fnd one (or two...or 20) that suit your DisneySide perfectly, just like the Starbucks You Are Here mugs do for me!
My Disney Collection continues to grow constantly. Whether it be by gifts from friends or things I pick up while visiting the Disney Parks (or even here at home), my Disney Collection fills both my bedroom at home and a good part of my Dorm Room at College, making it a big item on this list. But that's how us Disney fans work...we need to show off our love of Disney every chance we get...and that means Disney hats, shirts, pillows, mugs, posters and anything else we can get our hands on are absolutely important!
There are probably a million other things that bring a smile to my face, and just to give you a glimpse into how this list expands, here's a quick look at some of the other Disney things that make me smile:
A Trip to Walt Disney World:

Day 861: Faculty, Flapjacks, and Finals
Every semester our college puts on a campus wide event in our caf called Faculty, Flapjacks, and Finals. The idea is that between like 9 and 11 at night one night during Finals week all the students will come to the caf to have professors feed us flapjacks and other breakfast foods. Honestly, it's one of my favorite traditions on campus and sadly this semester I had to miss it. However, it did bring a new thought to my mind.
A few friends we have on campus have a pancake breakfast every Saturday I believe, one that we rarely go to because they do it so early in the morning and come on, we're college students. Don't expect us to get up at 6 in the morning. Or 8. Or ever. But then we realized that next year we could have pancake breakfast in our own room since we'll be moving into a Town House next year in comparison to the dorms we've lived in so far. I've actually be put in charge of bringing a Mickey Waffle Iron for us to use. There's just one problem.
This is what Mickey Waffles are supposed to look like:
WHERE ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO PUT THE SYRUP?
I mean, ultimately I'll probably end up buying one of these newer ones because I'm not about to shell out a ton of money to get a classic one like the one we own, and Mom's not about to let me take the one at our house back to college with me. So I'll have to settle for this new version, but why is it this way? Why does the waffle need to look like that? Why do we not fix it? And I ask again...
WHERE ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO PUT THE SYRUP!?!
Have a magical day!

Day 96: Mickey Waffles
I could have posted about this a couple of weeks ago when I was watching Star Wars and actually ate these, but I didn't really get around to it until now, and since there was a picture prompting me to write this on my Pinterest, now seems like a good time.
Mickey Waffles.
We've all had them, and if you haven't, you need to. They're almost as much of a simple of Disney food as the Turkey Leg or Dole Whip, but honestly, this is probably my personal favorite. They're served throughout Disney World (and Disneyland too I'm sure), and I have to say that I'll be actually eating one when I go to WDW in July...since I generally don't eat these on property.
But the reason I don't eat them on property is because I can eat them at home (so I save my money...and stomach room...for foods I can't eat at home!) I am lucky enough to have a Mickey Waffle Iron at home, meaning that any time I want, I can have these little beauties...

Oh yes, we eat them often. I'm pretty sure any time my friends sleep over we have Mickey Waffles for Breakfast...even if I'm not a breakfast eater.
Now I want Mickey Waffles.
Here's today's Disney History: 1947: Actor John Ratzenberger, Pixar's "good luck charm" is born in Bridgeport, Connecticut. All of Pixar Animation's feature films has included Ratzenberger's voice, such as Yeti in Monsters, Inc. and Hamm the Piggy Bank in all Toy Story features. According to director/screenwriter Andrew Stanton, Pixar actually has a rule stating that Ratzenberger must be in all Pixar films. His voice credits include Underminer in The Incredibles, Mack in Cars, Mustafa in Ratatouille, John in WALL-E and Construction Foreman Tom in Up.
