Day 1140: Rhythm of the Tambourine

What do you do after spending a weekend with High School Students and playing on concerts and it also happens to be Valentine's Day? Make yourself homemade spaghetti and meatballs and scones and watch The Hunchback of Notre Dame, of course!

If I had to name three movies that I grew up with as a kid, Hunchback would definitely be one of them. I watched it often enough, although mostly when there were thunderstorms, and to this day it's certainly up there on my list of favorite Disney movies. That standard is more because of the music than anything else, but having seen the show as a kid at what was then MGM Studios, and continuously watching the film, I just love Hunchback as a whole.

Now, as you may know, a broadway version of the story has come about, although it's currently not being performed and isn't going to Broadway that we know of, which is really disappointing. The musical version of The Hunchback of Notre Dame just blew me away, and I tend to listen to it all the time. So much, in fact, that I know most of the words to all of the new songs, as I learned the words to the classic ones years ago. As for me, Valentine's Day was pretty quiet after all the high school students went home. Spaghetti is easily one of my favorite foods, especially when I make my homemade sauce, so it sounded like the perfect meal for me after a long weekend. Plus, the whole Lady and the Tramp connection has to count for something, right?

Day 411: Legally Blonde

Yesterday, since I'm spending the rest of the weekend at college for Winter Band Fest (two concerts for us), I went back to my High School to see their production of Legally Blonde. If I did mention it before, I went to the high school of my best friend's roommate to see it when they had their own production of it. It was honestly pretty awesome getting to see it twice by two different schools. Plus, I really do like the musical, so that just made it that much better.

Seriously though, Legally Blonde is great...especially the song Ireland. I just absolutely LOVE that song...hmm I wonder why though. Actually, in general, I just love Paulette. Her character is great. Plus, her dog in my high school's version was my band director's dog, Bru...whom I remember as a puppy and is seriously like my favorite dog. I just never get to see him, so that was really exciting. I mean, seriously:

What does this have to do with Disney? Not much I suppose...although "Ireland" DOES basically relate to Once...I mean, it's pretty obvious. Colin IS Irish, and there's a line where it talks about sailors, one of them named Liam. The first time I saw this I literally had to keep myself from laughing. It was hard. 

Other than that, great job to everyone involved in the Seymour High School Production of "Legally Blonde!" Super proud of all you! 

And now time for a side story that DOES have to do with Disney! This weekend we have two high school students staying in our dorm room for Winter Band Fest, and one of them said they love Disney and was like "I've been to Walt Disney World 5 times!" and my roommate just laughed and was like "CAN I TELL THEM!?!" so she did and the High Schooler Guesses like 7 and my roommate is just like "higher" and they guessed again, with 10 or something, and my roommate goes "24!" Only I forgot to mention to her that I actually miscounted and it's 23, not 24. So then we had a discussion about that. Haha...don't worry though, by the end of the year it will be 25!

Day 410: Have a Valentine

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

A year ago, surprisingly enough, I did NOT do a post on Valentine's Day itself (although I did mention it), but since it seems to be an actually really big thing (its just everywhere on Campus), I suppose I'll actually make a blog post about it.

In reality though, I just wanted to share some of my absolute favorite Valentine's people have come up with this year. Like seriously, these are great...

Villains seem to be a popular theme this year. I blame Hans. These first three are from Keith Lapinig, and then there are some directly from Disney...because they're awesome.

Or, if you prefer, we have THIS Hook, more Irish, less Waxed Mustache and Perm: 

And then we have these, directly from Oh My Disney. Jack Sparrow and Flynn Rider for the win. On a side note, my best friend sent me the second one (America) on Pinterest saying "A Tribute to all nations but mostly America, right? This is a thing!" It was a proud moment for Lizzie.

And so, I hope you laughed as some of these Valentines. I actually didn't send any out, because the week has just been super busy and I didn't have time to print any (although I did send the Hook one to someone). Megan gave us all Valentine's that said "Some people are worth melting for" though, and it was super adorable. Thanks Shovell! =)

Me? I spent my Valentine's Day the same way I always do, Han style...Solo!

Day 45: The "Harrison Ford Sit"

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! And of course, because of this fact, I'm going to do a blog post on a topic that has absolutely nothing to do with Valentine's Day! Well...almost.

So a few months ago for Christmas I got a few things I was very excited about. The seasons of the Muppet show, of course, my Empire Strikes Back poster I got from one of my friends, and my Spaceship Earth phone case and 30th Anniversary Epcot Map. But aside from these, I also got "The Making of Indiana Jones" and " The Making of the Empire Strikes Back."

Since I love pretty much anything Harrison Ford, these were both amazing books to get! And of course, they're filled with tons of behind the scenes stories and pictures...of which I combed for anything relating to HF. I came across some great stories, especially from "The Empire Strikes Back", but that's not what this is about.

While my friend and I were looking through the books she came across something. There were two pictures, one a very famous picture of Ford, Carrie Fisher, George Lucas and Mark Hamill from the set of "The Empire Strikes Back" and the other a picture of Ford on the set of one of the Indy movies. But it wasn't just the pictures that intrigued us...it was what was in them.

Notice how he's sitting? Despite the fact that he's in two very different places on two very different movie sets wearing two very different costumes and playing two very different characters...he's sitting the same way! And so, this was determined as what we call "The Harrison Ford Sit." 

But it get stranger. I found yet another picture in the Indy book to show that he really does sit this way a lot..and then another picture in which he's not even in a chair! He's sitting almost that way on the ground!

But here's the real catch! Last night while on Facebook one of the pages I follow posted this picture...

Not only does Harrison Ford sit the same way all the time...but he SLEEPS that way too? Now quite honestly he probably doesn't do this all the time, but I found it interesting that there are so many pictures of him sitting the exact same way...and the sleeping thing is just a mix of awesome and weird. 

Granted, is it weird that I study how Harrison Ford sits? Probably. But you have to admit that it's kind of weird and intriguing at the same time! 

On a side note, and here's the Valentine's Day part of this blog post, I found the absolute perfect Valentine. If this was a little prettier, it would be amazing!
