Day 1041: Indiana Shawn

I recently took it upon myself to watch every episode of Psych, and there are few things I love more than Pierre Despereaux. Then again, how can you not love Cary Elwes, especially when he returns again for an episode that has more than a few Indiana Jones undertones. After all, the episode itself is titled "Indiana Shawn and the Temple of the Kinda Crappy Rusty Old Dagger." Don't believe that this episode is everything an Indiana Jones fan could want? Check out the clip below!

I was more than a little excited when I came across the title of the episode long before I knew Despereaux was involved, so you can imagine how epic this episode became. In fact, having now finished the series, I'd say it's one of my all time favorites!

Day 1040: Obscure Disney Music

I had someone a while back ask me about some of my favorite obscure Disney music, and truth be told, I think I listen to more of the obscure stuff than I do mainstream Disney. Don't get me wrong, I definitely know the lyrics to pretty much every famous Disney song (a la "Colors of the Wind," "Part of Your World," "Beauty and the Beast," etc), but that's not really what I listen to on an everyday basis.

But instead of just writing a blog post on the topic like I usually might, I headed to YouTube, and yes, you may even hear me sing...

Day 1039: A Long, Long Time Ago

I was going through old blog posts in search of a Throwback Thursday and happened to go all the way back to Day 5, which feels more like a lifetime ago than anything else. Turns out, I had little to talk about that day too aside from Pinterest and social media, but I happened to find it humorous that I was apparently just as lost for topics on Day 5 as I am on Day 1039.

Day 1038: John Henry

I usually come across things like this first, but when the Disney Shorts Film came out on Netflix, it seems that some of my friends had a chance to watch it before I did (although I have seen many of the shorts and there are still, to this day, a couple I haven't had the chance to check out). One of the these films was "John Henry," which my friend Jessica really related to. Of course, I knew I had to check it out, and I was delighted by what I found. This little short, released originally in 2000, is super entertaining and has a great message, just like some of my other favorite Disney shorts!

What are some of my other favorite Disney short films? Certainly Paperman, which was released a few years ago and has quickly become a favorite of many people. I've certainly seen quite a few DisneyBounds and Halloween Costumes that depict the couple in this short, but needless to say, it's quickly become a standard in the Disney Short Film Collection. 

I came across The Little Matchgirl a couple of years ago when I was taking Classic and Contemporary Fairy Tales, and I believe I even blogged about it back then, but I do believe it's worth sharing again! This short tale is a sad one, but I love how closely they stick to the original plotline, and it's almost depressing that it wasn't featured in a third Fantasia film the way it was created for. 

Easily one of my all time favorites though, Johnny Appleseed is one that sticks with all of us, especially as we all make similar attempts to do the best work we can and the right thing. Need a refresher? Watch the whole short below!

Day 1037: End of the Land

My trip to Disneyland had a ton of really awesome experiences built right in. So many in fact, that I couldn't even fit them in by day! Instead, I had to do the vlogs in "Parts" rather than days, and that, along with over 11 hours of video, led to video after video for me to share with you!

Day one brought us to California, a dinner at Downtown Disney's Jazz Kitchen, and a great view for World of Color from the Grand Californian Hotel! The next morning, however, we're off to the parks for a wild adventure at DCA...including my first trip on California Screamin'!

Part 2 continues our second day in California and features a really small castle, an opening ceremony (that may or may not have made me cry), our first adventure on the Matterhorn, one handed driving, catching up with my friend Laura, who took me to meet some of the awesome characters that appear only at Disneyland and my first experience at Mad T Party at Disney California Adventure! 

Part 3 starts on a fresh new day at DCA! I beat Jonny at Toy Story Midway Mania (again), I cry on Radiator Springs Racers because I love it so much, we catch some of the performing groups in the parks, keep some promises with Genie and Aladdin, play Mickey's Fun Wheel Challenge, and I give you a monologue about filming at the Disney Parks.

Part 4 concludes another day in the parks with a bit of Paint the Night at Disneyland Park. I also got a bit lost in the dark and had to find my way by following screams until I found my way to Big Thunder Mountain, which was recently redone and was pretty darn spectacular. And then, there's all of the adventures that came in between the D23 Expo, which had two separate videos because there was just too much to fit into one vlog! Oh, and you may also see more than a few familiar faces. 

Part 5 brings us right back to the parks for an early start and features a little bit of a piratey Tower of Terror, lots of Mater (which is still most certainly my favorite attraction at DCA), more Carsland, some Tiki Room, and much much more! 

Just because Part 5 got too long doesn't mean the day is over, as Part 6 picks up where we left off on Monday! Check out more of Disneyland's classic attractions, such as Primeval World, and some awesome nighttime shows! We had great seats for Fantasmic thanks to a dinner package, so I was sure to film the whole thing (even if it did leave me with a back that hurt like no other). 

Part 7 picks up in the middle of yet another day at Disneyland and takes us to meet President Lincoln, the Disneyland Band, Mickey and Friends at Mickey and the Magical Map before finishing off with a bit of Star Wars in World of Color Celebrate from a new view, our hotel room at Paradise Pier Hotel!

Head with us back to Mater's Junkyard in Part 8, and then onward to other new and old adventures alike! Try some food in cones in Carsland, Go Green with the Toy Soldiers, meet our favorite Snowman, a classic Rabbit, and hear Zorro come alive with, again, the Disneyland band!

As we open the last vlog of the Disneyland trip, Jonny is trying to figure out the plotline of Once Upon A Time. Later on we head off to see another showing of World of Color Celebrate, go on a few last attractions, and ultimately, say goodbye to Disneyland once again. 

And that, my friends, rounds out my trip to Disneyland. In case you're wondering, the vlogs are made up of about 1.75 hours of footage from my trip out to the West Coast, although I had to go through over 11 hours to get it narrowed down. I'd count how many attractions are stuck in there too, but I certainly don't have almost two hours to watch every minute of these right now...so I'll leave that up to you!

Day 1036: A Lot of Thinking

After coming up with almost 60 blog post topics in the past few days, I was left with this one, lone, blog post that I had no idea what to write about. I've gone through Tumblr and Pinterest and Facebook and Twitter, Throwback Thursdays, Pictures, Instagram, and basically my entire room at college with no luck. It turns out, nothing of any interest happened on this day, and considering the fact that I'm a busy college student, that assumption probably isn't all that far off.

But then I realized that I should probably give an explanation as to why many of these blog posts have a note at the bottom that says the post was written on a different day, and honestly, you can find a ton of those notes throughout the years of this blog. We're all busy people in this world, and things get behind, especially when your blog is important enough to keep up with, but not important enough to come first on your totem poll of things to do.

It does matter, however, and by the end of the year, I get really antsy about making sure there's a little 365 next to the year when I'm finished, although I suppose 2016 will be a bit different. Plus, I think the fact that we're still here after almost three years proves that there's enough Disney to go around for everyone every single day...it's just a matter of figuring out what those things are and then documenting them.

The hard part is definitely trying to keep things different, and while, on occasion, I'll come up with something entirely new that somehow popped up in my life at the most random of times, more often than not, the Disney in my daily life amounts to nothing more beyond the mug on my shelf and the wish to head on Spaceship Earth (or do anything at Disney World) instead of homework. That's not, however, the point. What we do here at Everyday Disney is celebrate the ways Disney pops up in life, whether it's an everyday occurrence or something that just happened randomly once. It's about celebrating the Disney that surrounds us all the time, whether we're in the parks, watching a Disney movie, or sitting in a class about Music Theory. Somehow, Disney connects it all together, and I'm still amazed at it, no matter how many days I have to sit at my computer to catch up when school put me behind on everything, the blog included.

My point here is this: even if I don't know how Disney was a part of my life on November 2, 2015, I do know it was there somehow, and that's why having the little 365 at the end of the year is so important...because it was there, and that's reason enough to celebrate.

Day 1035: The Time That's Passed

I came across a picture of Ariel recently, specifically from The Little Mermaid show at Hollywood Studios, and I realized that it's been a long while since I've actually been on that attraction. After taking my best friends to Disney twice, we've hit pretty much every attraction, but there's no way that we could have accomplished them all in one trip, and there's still a couple of things they have yet to experience. That being said, I honestly think it's pretty easy for us to miss out on some great attractions just because we don't head on them very often.

So I started thinking about the attractions that I haven't been on in a while, and figured I'd make a list of when I was last on some of this stuff, because honestly, for some of it, I have no idea.

So as you can see, there's certainly a few attractions that I've been missing out on myself. It seems most of them include spinning, which is probably why I've been avoiding them, but now that I look at it, I apparently get a lot accomplished in my trips, and often times when I go on something like Spaceship Earth or Haunted Mansion, it happens every trip and usually more than once. That's an accomplishment in itself.
