Day 1024: Life is a Highway

Roadtrips. They can certainly be a hassle, but they can also be super fun, and since we were headed on a shorter one, about four and a half hours, my roommate and I took it upon ourselves to create the perfect roadtrip playlist for our drive to the Twin Cities. Of course, there were a lot of options to consider here, because after all, we all like different music. I do believe, however, that we did an excellent job!

You have to have some classic roadtrip songs on your list, of course, like I'm Shipping Up To Boston, Eye of the Tiger, Greased Lightning, Bohemian Rhapsody, and of course, I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles). From there we branched out into a few favorites, like We Are Here to Change the World...because you've got to have some Michael Jackson and Captain EO in here. We had to have some Christina Perri...because Christina Perri, and I made sure to include plenty of The Enemies, since, after all, we were heading to see Colin O'Donoghue's new movie.

But we're also Disney fans around here, and if you're in the car with me for more than an hour, you can pretty much guarantee that there's going to be Disney thrown in there somewhere. A few of my favorites? Definitely the Star Wars songs (Main Title, Han Solo & The Princess, and the ever popular Cantina Band), Music from Brave (which I've really been into lately), Frozen, a bunch of music that I came across through Mad T Party out at Disneyland, and pretty much every other awesome song I could find on my iTunes. Ultimately, the playlist levels out at 129 songs and 7 hours and 57 minutes, perfect for our trip to and from the Twin Cities...but you'll hear more about that later.

Have a magical day!

Day 723: Michael Jackson

Considering the fact that I've been blogging for quite some time and just recently posted that one about the music (as in two blog posts ago), I'm still listening to Michael Jackson music. And by Michael Jackson music, I mean I have "We Are Here To Change The World" on repeat at the current moment. I doubt it's going to change until after this blog post is finished for sure either.

Here's a bit of an ironic story for you though:

Back when Michael Jackson was alive, I really wasn't a fan. Granted, I didn't really even know about Captain EO back in those days and up until his death, I didn't even really know much about him. So when he died, I wasn't super affected. It was the return of Captain EO to the Disney Parks that MADE me a Michael Jackson fan though, and while I'm not a fan of Captain EO itself (I don't really like the simulator feel), I am a fan of the film itself and the music. Plus I can do a pretty darn good moonwalk, so there's that.

However, there's one other thing that really made me a Michael Jackson fan. A few years ago I read from "From Dreamer to Dreamfinder," the book by Ron Schneider, and I loved it. More importantly, in that book there's a section where he mentions that Michael Jackson loved coming to Disney World, and in particular he loved the Imagination Garden at Epcot.

It just so happens that this same garden is one of my personal favorite places at Epcot. It's beautiful and calm and you can't get over catching those jumping fountains. When I read in the book that this was MJ's favorite location, I just kind of felt a little bit of a connection there, and it led to me loving Captain EO and MJ himself more than I ever had before.

So let's just all watch this and listen to the song a million more times:

Have a magical day!

Day 669: The Cold Never Bothered Me Anyways

Despite the fact that I spent the last two days in an extreme attempt to catch my blog up completely, I almost forgot to write today's post. This is also odd considering the topic for today was decided weeks ago (it is Halloween, after all), and all I had to do was take the actual pictures. But no fear, Lizzie's here! Or should I say Elsa...

After Disneybounding as Elsa back for the OUAT premiere a month ago, it was decided that Elsa would be my Halloween Costume for the year. Last year, if you remember, I reused my recent Hook Disneybound for Halloween, so this isn't really all that odd of a development, only this time a few more people ended up seeing the costume itself. And by a few, I mean a lot.

When I came back this past week, my roommates informed me that I should participate in a Halloween Costume Contest here on campus, and last night I did just that. Honestly, I can't believe my roommates convinced me to do it, but hey, I actually won second place in the contest and am getting $40 for it! That basically pays off the entire costume itself! So worth it!

And then tonight my roommates (and Katie!) and I went out to dinner at Applebees. It was an...interesting experience, but that doesn't really matter, now does it? We had a great time in our costumes though, and for real...it's not every day you get to be a Disney Princess (or Queen!).

Also, I just have to share these pictures because I do. The first is Ava, Jennifer Morrison's dog, who's dressed up as a Lady Bug. And then we have Buckley, Colin O'Donoghue's adorable pup, as (Na na na na na na na na) Batdog! I've been singing the Batman theme song but with Batdog since I saw the picture at dinner. Adorable.

Plus, since it's Halloween, we all need a little bit of Michael Jackson in our lives (we watched Thriller earlier, but I felt the need to watch some good old Captain Eo). So here you go: Captain Eo!

Have a magical Halloween!
