Day 1153: Anna, Elsa, Tiana

The world's latest obsession is definitely adult coloring books, and I couldn't be more excited. As an artsy person in general, I've always loved coloring, and now that's apparently socially acceptable for adults to color too, I'm even more excited. Even Disney is getting in on the action, creating adult coloring books that are by far some of the most intricate I've seen out there. My mom gifted me the first two in the set - Disney Princess and Frozen - to test out, and Megan and I put them to use while watching Newsies recently. Because why wouldn't you want to watch a Disney movie and color in a Disney coloring book?

Megan picked the Disney Princess book, eager to find her favorite Disney Princess: Tiana. I watched as she colored the page, and I got really excited when I saw her color choice for the intricate heart outline. I really thought the dark blue brought some real contrast to the picture and made it different from what one might usually expect!

Meanwhile, I dove into Frozen, specifically intent on finding a picture of both Anna and Elsa. I found this one, and quite honestly had to look up a picture of them from the movie to make sure I got the color combinations correct. I think it turned out rather well though!

I think it's pretty obvious at this point that I'm going to be spending more time with my nose in a coloring book than I may have before, but with all the pictures I now have available to color, I don't think that's going to be a problem.

Have a magical day!

Day 736: Dapper Day

A few months ago, my brother came to me with one of the oddest requests I've ever had from him. He asked me if we could do Dapper Day while in Florida, and honestly, I was almost confused as to where he got the idea. Then it dawned on me. Even further back, I had told him about a thing we did at college for part of last year, Fancy Friday, where you dressed up for all your classes on Friday. Being the Dapper kid my brother apparently is, he, along with several of his friends, adopted the tradition at our local High School, and he's been wearing bow ties on Fridays pretty much ever since.

So when he approached me about doing a Dapper Day, I was both surprised and not surprised, all somehow at the same time. For those that don't know, Dapper Day is a recent activity that's put on twice a year at both Walt Disney World and the Disneyland Resort, where basically you dress in your best clothes and head to the Disney park. It's sort of a play on the tradition in years past of wearing your Sunday best to the parks instead of shorts and a T-Shirt. You can find more information on the official Dapper Day website HERE.

For quite some time, I've been pretty sad about the fact that I'm never around when the actual Dapper Day occurs, although if I were able to go to Disney this March, I'd hit Dapper Day right on the dot. However, that's not happening, and the ones for the fall occur after I head to Disneyland as well. It leaves us in quite the pickle, but there aren't any rules that say we can't have our own Dapper Day!

So the four of us dressed in our best clothes (and a few of us Disneybounded as well), and headed to Magic Kingdom for a day filled with characters and adventure. Here's a few pictures from our conversation with Rapunzel, just so you can sort of see our outfits:

Dapper Day was pretty darn fun, I have to say, although we were glad to get our of our fancy clothing before a round of Mini Golf at Fantasia Gardens that night. I don't think I can even count the number of cast members that commented, and I know the characters loved our outfits as well (for me, Disneybounding as Elsa, I even got a comment from Elsa herself on how my dress reminded her of Snow).

All in all, it was a great day, and I wouldn't be surprised if another Dapper Day was in our future!

Have a magical day!

Day 717: Frozen Swag

Who doesn't love Disney themed shirts? I mean, really. A while back I posted about the shirts I got from Hot Topic, and here's another one for you. But first, a backstory.

A few weeks ago, during my last week at SNC, I headed to Walmart with one of my friends and happened to see a Christmas Disney Shirt. It had Mickey Mouse and was basically patterned to be a Disney Christmas Sweater, and I loved it. Of course, in that moment I didn't buy it because did I really need it? No. So I left without that new shirt.

And I really wish I had bought it.

I went back three days later only to find that the shirt had sold out. So I went to another Walmart. Sold out there too. I looked online. SOLD OUT. Which left me with a serious dilemma. I had already planned a day in for this Christmas or sweater theme and I basically had no further options. That is, until I came up with a backup plan.

Hot Topic has had these Frozen things for a while, and besides my Frozen dress I got on my last trip to Hot Topic, I didn't have any other Frozen themed stuff. I fixed that:

You could say that I'm pretty prepared for Disney World with my new Frozen Swag, and yes, I'm very excited about it.

Have a magical day!

Day 669: The Cold Never Bothered Me Anyways

Despite the fact that I spent the last two days in an extreme attempt to catch my blog up completely, I almost forgot to write today's post. This is also odd considering the topic for today was decided weeks ago (it is Halloween, after all), and all I had to do was take the actual pictures. But no fear, Lizzie's here! Or should I say Elsa...

After Disneybounding as Elsa back for the OUAT premiere a month ago, it was decided that Elsa would be my Halloween Costume for the year. Last year, if you remember, I reused my recent Hook Disneybound for Halloween, so this isn't really all that odd of a development, only this time a few more people ended up seeing the costume itself. And by a few, I mean a lot.

When I came back this past week, my roommates informed me that I should participate in a Halloween Costume Contest here on campus, and last night I did just that. Honestly, I can't believe my roommates convinced me to do it, but hey, I actually won second place in the contest and am getting $40 for it! That basically pays off the entire costume itself! So worth it!

And then tonight my roommates (and Katie!) and I went out to dinner at Applebees. It was an...interesting experience, but that doesn't really matter, now does it? We had a great time in our costumes though, and for real...it's not every day you get to be a Disney Princess (or Queen!).

Also, I just have to share these pictures because I do. The first is Ava, Jennifer Morrison's dog, who's dressed up as a Lady Bug. And then we have Buckley, Colin O'Donoghue's adorable pup, as (Na na na na na na na na) Batdog! I've been singing the Batman theme song but with Batdog since I saw the picture at dinner. Adorable.

Plus, since it's Halloween, we all need a little bit of Michael Jackson in our lives (we watched Thriller earlier, but I felt the need to watch some good old Captain Eo). So here you go: Captain Eo!

Have a magical Halloween!

Day 636: Once Is Frozen

Does it really surprise you that this post is about Once Upon A Time? Because it shouldn't. I've been waiting for this day for literally 140 days. Over FOUR MONTHS. It's been a journey, but I've been in it for the long haul. Am I right, Oncers?

Anyway, the new episode comes with a lot of hype. I have to say that I've been watching this show since the beginning. That was THREE years ago, back in 2011. I remember watching it in my bedroom, the location where I would watch many of the episodes to come. Seasons one and two were watched at home, and then all of Season three began a new journey with my college friends. I'm extremely thankful for Once Upon A Time because I can literally say it brought my dorm room together. The three wonderful ladies I now room with all watched Once with me last year (including Megan, who I converted into the Once Fandom at the beginning of season 2). It's funny actually because we're sitting here talking about how Once really brought us together. It's literally the reason I am rooming with the people I am, and I am so happy about that. They not only listen to my ridiculous Once rants (not that my roommate last year, Megan, didn't! I miss our random musical singing!), but they participate in them and let me freak out and scream with me when a Once cast member tweets me back or something.

That's the thing about television shows like Once Upon A Time. It's a fandom, for sure, but we all have this incredible chance to get to know so many people, and I'm very lucky that it's an extension of my original and home fandom, Disney. Once Upon A Time is leading me into a life filled with fairy tales, literally, as it's definitely my primary focus in English. I buy up every fairy tale book I can and read as many as I have time for, all because I want to better understand how these tales impact our lives, and that includes Once.

So here's a shoutout to the entire cast and crew of Once Upon A Time. Thanks for bringing my roommates and I together in a room filled with magic, where every Sunday night we invite all our Once friends in to watch the new episode. And that's for my extended Once family, with all the people who I know and love from Twitter and Instagram and Facebook and just about everyone else. I don't know what I would do without any of you!

Oh, and in case you were wondering, yes, I am doing character inspired outfits for Season Four! This first one is a serious mix of cosplay and Disneybound, but it will also be doubling as my Halloween costume in a few weeks, when my friends and I embark on yet another great adventure.

That second collection of pictures is what my friends call "The Evening of Elsa." I absolutely love this dress (and am still wearing it) and know that the two months of work to perfect this one for the premiere was SOOOO worth it. I've gotten many wonderful compliments already on it and thank you all for those gracious comments! I can't wait for the upcoming weeks!

Oh...and aren't you all proud of me? I went through this whole post without mentioning Hook or Colin...until now of course. Bloody hell.

Have a magical day!

Day 385: Frozen Appreciation

I saw Frozen again.

Yeah, that's about all I'm going to say about that because right now it's time for some Frozen Appreciation: AKA All of the awesome Frozen posts that I've been finding on Tumblr and Pinterest. Seems like a good time, right? Also, note that if you have yet to see Frozen, there will probably be spoilers on this post. So, with that said, let's start things off with some Hans Appreciation, because even though he's super evil, I still love him.

I admit, the top one is just a picture of Hans, but I liked it, so I figured I would share it anyways. And then the Lion King Mash Up just made me laugh. The Douche comes from "Smolder, By Flynn," which I shared not too long ago. It's totally true though. And then that bottom one just hits you right in the feels and you're like darnit!

I just have to comment on the two above this, because it's happening again and it's the truest thing ever. I mean really, ETERNAL WINTER EVERYWHERE HAPPENED!

Ok, as a college student, that one is totally a description of how we feel at the end of the semester. Like so much. We always tell ourselves that we'll be determined to do our work but that never happens. Hopefully I can beat it this semester though! (See what I'm doing already). Then I must comment on "HOW DOES ELSA DO THAT WITH HER HAIR!?!" I wish I could do that. We also all need a little Pocket Princesses in our lives, right? And finally, again...that last one hits you right in the feels.

And yes, we all need more Olaf in our lives. So there's lot of him...cause he's awesome. I love Olaf.

Also I did a second Frozen Disneybound for this time going to see it, Kristoff!

Have a magical day!
