Day 851: Planning Always

Back in Year One of Everyday Disney I blogged about my Vacation Planning DVD, then brand new, which you can read about HERE. I rewatched that 2013 DVD a few weeks ago, and then realized that it was incredibly outdated...and that, since it's been two years, a new one seemed to be in order. So I went ahead and ordered myself a new one. Seemed like a good idea...and indeed it was!

With my upcoming trip to Disneyland, it especially felt right to order the DVD so I could brush up on my Disneyland knowledge. Of course, getting to sit and watch the Walt Disney World section was pretty great too, and to tell the truth, I think this is one of my favorite Vacation Planning Videos so far, if not my all time favorite. There's just something about the interviews with Cast Members that got to me.

Beyond that, however, it occurred to me that I really should read up on Disneyland. While I do have some friends out there that will make sure I don't get lost and have the time of my life, I also need to have a plan of action. Then again, I'll also have roughly two months in between Disney World and Disneyland, which will give me plenty of time to get things together.

As for Disney World, I continue to add to my list of things to do, and it grows longer each and every single day. It seems that I plan to attempt to pack more into my five day trip than may be humanly possible, but perhaps it's just all part of the adventure.

Do you order the Disney Vacation Planning DVD's like I do?

Have a magical day!

Day 831: Look At That!

If you remember, back in January my laptop, HAL9000, had a bit of an accident involving a lot of water, a lot of rice, and a lot of waiting. He survived, amazingly, and I'm currently using him now, but that whole experience, along with a giant band trip video that took up way more of my time than I really wanted it to, the files on my computer and my external hard drives were spectacularly messed up. I've been meaning to fix it for ages, to go through and reorganize those files, putting the pictures from my phone into the correct places, sorting through the ridiculous number of saved photos for Everyday Disney and so on and so forth. The process takes a long time though, and that meant that I needed something to listen to in the background during the six hours I spent staring at my laptop screen. Of course, Disney fit the bill perfectly.

Last week I was listening to my Pandora when a song came on that sounded familiar, and I had this feeling that it was in one of the Disney Parks Videos I had. It wasn't, after all, but I felt the need to check, and when I found myself with hours spent in front of the TV (I happened to be on the back room futon), it felt like the perfect time to do so.

Of course, I've seen these videos time and time again, almost to a ridiculous point, but sometimes I forget that two of my roommates haven't exactly taken the same "Everything You Probably Didn't Need to Know About Walt Disney World" class as Megan has. We were all definitely working on stuff, but every once and a while, one of my roommates would pop into the room and watch a little bit of a video with me, asking questions about everything from New Fantasyland to Mission SPACE and all over the world.

It was actually pretty entertaining to see what kinds of things they might ask. My roommate Hannah has only been to Magic Kingdom, where I happened to see her last Spring Break, while Ashley hasn't been to Disney at all. Megan, of course, has been twice now, both times with me, and considering how long she's known me, she can generally answer a bunch of their questions herself. I do know, however, that we've been talking about us all taking a trip to Disney after our graduation from SNC, so that's exciting. Then again, I find any and every Disney trip exciting...

Either way, there's plenty more for them to learn, and I'm sure that in a few weeks when my new Disney Vacation Planning DVD gets here they'll stumble into the room and ask me a few more questions while I'm watching. I'll let you know how that goes when we get there though!

Have a magical day!

Day 245: Vacation Planning DVD

I like free stuff. Well, who doesn't. But you know what free stuff I love the most?

You guessed it! Free Disney stuff! Of course, there's nothing like getting a couple hours of endless Disney magic on a DVD for free, and most of the time the only way that comes is in a Disney Vacation Planning DVD. I ordered mine a couple of weeks ago after Disney was all "Order yours today cause it's free!" and it came this last week while I was at school. My parents left it sitting on the counter for me and I didn't see it this weekend, but dad finally pointed it out to me this morning, meaning that I spent a good portion of the rest of the day watching the DVD and all it's magical contents.

I absolutely love Disney Vacation Planning DVD's. I think the earliest one we have is from sometime in the 90's, although I couldn't tell you exactly when. Back then it came not on DVD though, but VHS. You know? Those days when we had to use a TAPE instead of a disc! I remember those days...that was called my childhood, and it saddens me that there are people that don't know what that all means anymore. But that's beside the point. Our second one is also on VHS and is from 2004 I believe. Then we skip ahead to around 2007, and then 2011. So of course, in order to continue this, I had to get the 2013 Disney Vacation Planning DVD, even though I just got back from Disney like a month ago.

I think my favorite thing about them is the fact that you can spend an entire day just sitting and watching them and you can just sit and watch how the Walt Disney Resort has changed. It's spectacular to see the advancements and the additions of parks and the creation of new resorts. It's actually kind of fun to guess whether or not something was there yet or not, and honestly, more often than not, even I'm wrong.

The other great thing about these things? The fact that when you're having a bad day you can just pop them into the VHS player or DVD player or whatever it is that you have and you can watch all the magic of Disney right there on your TV. It isn't quite the same as being there, but it still brings a little extra joy into your day.

Plus, I'm pretty sure that even the most frequent Disney goer will find something new that they wish to explore on their next visit! I know I almost always do! My next goal: Meet Flynn Rider at Disneyland. In fact I may have jumped off the couch and fell on my face when he came on the screen. But that's a long shot...*cough cough.*

Here's the #Frumpstagram post for today! Based on the prompt "Yum!"

And here's today's Disney History: 1979: The Big Thunder Mountain Railroad attraction opens in Disneyland's Frontierland. The "wildest ride in the wilderness" takes guests careening through dark caverns and abandoned mines. Imaingeer Tony Baxter modeled the attraction after the scenery of Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah. The exciting Big Thunder Mountain replaces the more dedate Mine Train Through Nature's Wonderland.

Have a magical day!
