Day 595: Getting It Done

Work. Work. Work.

I feel like despite the fact that I don't have a job, all I've done this summer is work on stuff. I mean, on one hand that's great. I've been able to spend time doing things that I really want to be doing. Like experimenting with videos and learning new techniques there and writing and spending time with friends. Sure it doesn't leave me a lot of time for a real job, but it's been nice to sit and relax a little bit. I won't be able to do that for much longer.

Granted, I didn't get this blog very far this summer either, and trust me, that fact alone just KILLS me. I love writing, especially when it comes to my blog, but with so little internet it's just been hard to find the capability and time to get it all done.

Which leaves me with "Operation Last Week of Summer."

In reality I guess it's only really a few days because I know that the second I step foot back on campus I'll be ambushed by any number of friends I haven't seen more than the occasional Facebook conversation in like three months or so. That's a really long time, and while I'm very excited about seeing everyone, it does leave me with a bit of an issue.

I have four days (three really now) left at home and more work to get done than I can possibly imagine. Sure, like a month ago I calculated the amount of work I had to do paired with the amount of time I had to do it then too, and back then it was impossible, but now it's just a little more real. With so many projects I want to finish before the school year starts in a week...A WEEK...I'm a little lost as to how I'm going to get everything done.

But I do have some good news. Over the past few days I've made some extreme progress in my blog. No, I don't have a ton of posts written like I wish I did, but I have topics for over 30 of the 80 some missing days, and honestly, the topic is the hardest part. One of my friends is starting a blog of her own at the moment and told me that seriously, the everyday blogging thing has to be rough. I'll tell you a secret: IT IS.

There's a lot of time and effort that goes into a daily blog, and I'm not really sure how I manage to get it all done, but seriously, if I keep this thing updated daily it doesn't take all that long. More like just a couple of minutes a day. Sounds like a new challenge, doesn't it? Actually blog everyday for an entire month or something. Yeah, we'll see how things settle in once I get back to school. Maybe September.

For now I'll just continue to work all the time, from writing to filming to editing, you name it. Apparently I do it all. Not that I'd have it any other way.

Have a magical day!

Day 506: Well Then

As of today (And not including today's blog post), I have 30 posts to write in order to catch up. This is what finals do to me I guess. I don't know, this semester seemed to be especially crazy since while everything was pretty spaced out, that was the exact reason it was hard, everything was spaced out so I was just continuously working, and from the way things sound right about now, I'm going to continue that lifestyle for the next month.

BUT, I'm back and I'll be slowly making up all the days I missed (once I figure out what I'm going to write for each day. That can get complicated), among other things. I've got a new vlog going up on my YouTube Channel from my March trip later today, and tomorrow marks one month until the band trip, meaning that I'm going to go make a countdown later tonight so we can put it up in the band room tomorrow. I'm also working on another project that you'll find out about soon enough (it's a secret for a few more days!)

Other than that, I've finished my first year of college, moved (somewhat) back to my house, although I use those terms lightly since my dorm room is in boxes that are currently still sitting in my dining room, and it's only going to get worse since I want to clean out my entire room and put things away and so on and so forth. There's practicing marching and learning music for the band trip, oh and learning a new instrument. I guess I'm learning clarinet in the next month, which should be a real joy. But I do love a challenge, so I'm going to attack it and hope for the best. I mean, at the worst I just end up playing alto when we go down to Disney so there's that. Then there's catching up on the blog and finishing the editing for the final three vlogs from March, because I refuse to not have them done by June, because come then I'll have hours and hours of video editing to do. Plus, it's already been two months since my trip (Oh my gosh...it has...) and these videos need to be done.

So here's what you can expect:

1. A new vlog on my YouTube channel today.
2. Updates on the blog (I'm currently looking at about five posts a day to make up the lost time).
3. A special announcement/surprise on Monday.

Also, on my Instagram I'm doing another photo challenge to count down the days until my trip (it's about five days off but that's ok!), so feel free to check out the pictures there as well. Of course, as with every photo challenge, you'll see the full set on my blog once I'm finished!

And since she's here, miss Lillybelle says hello! Or meow, whichever you prefer.

Have a magical day, and thanks for sticking with me through finals!

Day 473: Updating The Blog

It's no secret that I tend to get a bit behind on my blog. This is nothing new. In fact, the days of me getting behind on my blog go all the way back to the very beginning, right around Day 8. To be fair, when I got behind that first time I was pretty sick and felt like doing absolutely nothing (and I did absolutely nothing other than eat crackers and watch The Muppet Show). But since then I've gotten behind countless times, for reasons that are all over the place.

Sometimes I get behind simply because I forget to blog. Most of the time I actually have a thought process in my head each day on what the blog post will be about, and at various points during the year and a half I've been doing this, I've had a particular time of day that I used just for blogging. That way it was just a part of my daily routine, and that made it a million times easier to handle.

But then there are the ridiculous number of times my internet goes out. Thankfully, St. Norbert College has some wonderful internet, although during these summer months I have to make the half hour drive to get to it. My internet at home is just plain awful most of the time. Once in a great while it will work wonders, but I can't really upload or download anything without it taking hours to do so. And then there's the whole part where it likes to cut out and we're left with no internet at all. It's a rough life. #FirstWorldProblems?

And then there's school and life in general, which are both issues at hand. Some days I'm just too darn busy to write a blog post, and while at times I can crank one of these things out in only a few minutes, some of the more complicated posts can take hours. I remember a few I think I spend around two or three on, so it's interesting.

But I do love writing, and blogging. The problem is, what do I do when I get soooo far behind that I'm just terrified of how I'm going to make it all up. I'll give you a little look into my process:

This is the document in Google that I have that has a list of all the days I have to make up. Each is listed by date missing and then what day in the count it is. It may seem small in that picture, but literally this list goes on for another three pages. Granted, that list includes every blog post I'm missing between this day (April 18) and August 24, 2014, two days after I'm set to move back into SNC and just before I start classes again.

That's a lot of blog posts. Over 100 actually.

So I guess I'd better get working, especially since I'm at college now and actually have internet. I was going to resume work on the band trip video, but something tells me I need a break from that...at least until I get sick and tired of writing blog posts.

Have a magical day!

(Note: This blog post was actually written on August 1, WAY after April 18. In case you didn't get that while reading the rest of the blog post...)

Day 441: St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone! Am I wearing green? You better bet I am. I mean, one of my favorite actors is Irish, so it is an important holiday for me to pay attention to, right? I think so.

I guess there's not really all that much I can discuss about the holiday itself, since it's pretty boring around here, and it's not like I have a ton of people to celebrate with. It's mostly just me and twitter. Yep. I mean, then again there is this guy:

Ha! You all totally thought I was going to post a picture of Colin O'Donoghue. Nope! Meet Buckley, my little Irish dog that sits in my dorm room. He's pretty adorable, right? His full name, however, DOES have a lot to do with Colin and Once Upon A Time: Buckley Liam Jones. For those of you that don't know, Colin's dog is named Buckley, and Liam Jones is the name of Hook's brother on the show (we met him in Good Form...and then he died). Buckley here is 100% Irish, and 100% the cutest stuffed dog ever.

Like seriously, he is.

What else am I doing on this fine day? Well, I went to SNC even though we're on break and sat and downloaded Once Upon A Time, and then printed some stuff, grabbed a few things I forgot there on Friday, and finally went to pick up a last couple of things for my trip to Florida.

Because yes, tomorrow (or tonight sort of rather), I will finally be leaving for home. We're leaving directly to drive to Milwaukee after the Seymour High School Band Concert tonight and we fly out very early tomorrow morning...so if you don't already follow me on Instagram and/or Twitter, now is the time to! Lots of pictures coming up and, of course, I'll have vlogs at some point between now and the next couple weeks (depends on how long it takes me to edit them, since I probably won't have time to edit them when I'm in Florida...but we'll see).

The trip is only 5 days, but if you happen to see me when I'm down there, don't hesitate to say Hi!

And don't worry, as I am in airports over the next week or so I'm going to hopefully be working on updating the blog, since I'm really far behind again and that's drives me crazy!

Have a magical day & Happy St. Patrick's Day! =)
