Day 1195: Take Me Home

After months and months of waiting for the movie to come out in the first place, we saw Star Wars: The Force Awakens for the first time in December. We then proceeded to see the film multiple other times from there on out because we just couldn't get enough of the new film...even if we weren't very happy about the ending. And then we waited again for months and months, seeing the film in theaters from time to time, until we could say "Chewie, We're Home" in the comfort of our own homes and bring home the film to watch unlimited times without having to pay $13 every time to see it in the theater (even if we did pay for the recliner and 3D upgrades). 

That's right, you can now own your own copy of all of the latest adventures from the Star Wars cast, new and old. If the film isn't enough for you, there's plenty of bonus features that give a behind the scenes look at the creation of The Force Awakens, my favorite of which is the one focusing on the music of the film, which I've been listening to on repeat since December. 

You can pick up your copy today, but we're gonna leave it there because, honestly, I think it'd just be more worthwhile for us all to go watch the movie again...because we can now!

Day 675: The Force Awakens

What a big day today is!

Just this week we got the news that Star Wars Episode VII had finished principle photography, and that alone is a giant success. Here we are, a long, LONG time after the same sort of filming completed on Return of the Jedi, once again waiting for the next installment (yeah, I didn't include Episodes I-III simply because we're talking about Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill here). Just think about how different this is all going to be...and think about how amazing it's all going to be too.

But then, today, we get something more...a TITLE. That's right everyone, I'm sure I'm not the first to blog about this, and I certainly won't be the last, but as of November 6, 2014, we know that Star Wars Episode VII will be titled The Force Awakens.

Since being so included in the world of Once Upon A Time spoilers, I'm desperately trying to stay away from Star Wars spoilers, half because I want it all to be a surprise and half because I know that JJ Abrams prefers us to be surprised. It's a part of being a director or an actor or a writer...you want your audience to be kept on the edge of your seat, and I 100% understand that. Cliffhangers? Those are actually really fun to write. Not fun to read, but fun to write.

But that's not the only Star Wars that popped up in my day. You see a lot of awesome things on the internet, but a lot of times you never see the actual awesome Star Wars things in real life. I'm talking about the funny made up posters and signs and such. Today, however, I found a Star Wars reference right here on my own college campus.

I was meeting a friend at one of the buildings on campus to print off some Saxophone Quartet music and since it's getting chilly around here, instead of going all the way back to my dorm, I just went straight to the building after dinner, since I only had around an hour before our scheduled meeting time. Megan suggested I find a specific couch to sit on, partly to test it out and partly because it was probably a good little place to study while I waited. I took her up on the offer and not only found a super great area to read my British Literature, but also this:

I've seen this all over the internet, but simply the fact that I found in on a real door in a real place that I can actually take a wookiee with me...that's awesome. Megan also informed me that the entire office dressed as Han Solo for Halloween, so basically I love these people. No clue who they are, but I love them. Because, you know...Han Solo. 

I also just decided that I really want to watch Star Wars...so that's probably going to happen tomorrow if I have enough time. Yeah...it's gonna happen.

Day 311: December 18, 2015

So I have great news. Yes, really, really, great news.

It's official: we have a release date for Star Wars Episode 7. And that date is December 18, 2015. It's a bit later than I think any of us anticipated (I honestly, truly thought it was going to be in May), but that's alright. I guess I've waited this long, so I can wait until then. Plus, after many many many years of waiting for Disney vacations, I've gotten pretty good at being patient for long term stuff like that.

Ok, maybe that's a lie. I'm never patient when waiting for a Disney Vacation.

Anyway, Star Wars. It also sounds like Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher will return for not one, not two, but three films each, and part of the deal with HF is that there be another Indiana Jones film in the works too. If that's seriously what's going on, I'm sure not complaining. Three new Star Wars films WITH Han Solo AND another Indiana Jones film? Am I dreaming?

Granted...HF is 71 now...so that's going to be different to say the least. But I have faith that Disney and Lucasfilm will do some awesome stuff with these movies and I can't wait to see how it all works out.

Unlike all the other fans though, I know where I WON'T be on December 18, 2015...and that's the movie theater. As much as I love Star Wars I'm not going within five miles of the theaters around here for at least like two weeks. Unless for some reason I get roped into going...which probably won't happen. Unless Harrison Ford is there...but that won't happen either because why in the world would he be in Green Bay, Wisconsin? Yeah, I have no clue either.

Frumpstagram time! Today's prompt was "NOM," so I searched back through my pictures and came across some pictures from the last time I ate at the Plaza Restaurant at the Magic Kingdom. May I just say, I am lactose intolerant, but the milkshakes there are to die for, so whenever I go there you better bet I'm drinking one. This one in particular is cookies & creme. 

Here's today's Disney History: 1972: Christopher Daniel Barnes, the voice of Prince Eric in Disney's The Little Mermaid (at only 16 years of age), is born in Portland, Maine. His voice credits also include Cinderella II: Dreams Come True and Cinderella III: A Twist in Time (as Prince Charming).

Day 209: Star Wars Celebration

If you are a long time reader of my blog, you already know that I love Star Wars, and if you're not, you know now! Back in May when Star Wars Weekends were going on, I did several posts about that, but there's one piece that doesn't always come during the month of May! And that something is Star Wars Celebration!

This year in Germany, the Star Wars Celebration is a convention for everything Star Wars. Kind of like ComicCon or VidCon...only JUST Star Wars. And that means that it's AMAZING. Sadly, I live even further from Germany than the location of the last Star Wars Celebration in Orlando, so I obviously wasn't able to attend. But I did get to see some pictures and I followed the news like a Hawk, so here's the basic rundown of everything I felt was super important from Star Wars Celebration Europe!

1. JOHN WILLIAMS.

Now, you must really live in a hole or be out of the loop if you missed this one. That's right, John Williams has officially signed on to compose the score for ALL THREE of the new Star Wars films, started in 2015! This is great news because it means one of my three requirements for the new films has been fulfilled (the others are Harrison Ford and Han Solo MUST NOT DIE).

So, in celebration, watch John Williams is the Man, because we all know it to be true.

2. The New Movies aren't going to be like the prequels.

I think this is great news, although I guess what I just said can't really be confirmed. Either way, the basic idea is that the new films are going to use a mix of Real Locations and Models along WITH Digital stuff. I mean, I think it really shows in the difference between the originals and the prequels. The originals looked great even without all the crazy graphics because they used real places and real things to make it work! The prequels just looked really fake to me. Like it's said there isn't one shot in all of the prequels that doesn't use a blue-screen. That's just terrible right there.

3. The Next One is in 2015 in Anaheim! 

That's right, Star Wars Celebration is headed to the home of other great conventions such as D23 and Vidcon! Hopefully in the future I'll be able to make it to all of them...just probably not all in one year. You'll hear more about D23 in the coming weeks too! But either way, Star Wars Celebration is moving out to the Disneyland area for a convention just before the anticipated release of Episode 7. Who else wants to go?!?! (This is where I start begging for people to take me with them!)

Oh, and they announced a couple of other things, like a TV show called Star Wars Rebels. Not much on it yet, but I'm not sure if I'm excited or not. Honestly it has to include Han Solo for me to be excited. One thing that came out of the last Star Wars Celebration that looks like it will never happen is Star Wars Detours. It looked like such a great idea and I'm really sad it will never come to be! 

Here's today's Disney History: 1998: Disney's first cruise ship, The Magic, is christened by Patricia Disney (Roy E. Disney's Wife) in Florida. Built by Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri, the Disney Magic can hold approximately 2,400 passengers. The ship boasts 10 expansive decks, a total length of 964 feet, a maximum width of 106 feet and an astonishing gross tonnage of 83,000. It will embark on its maiden voyage two days later.
