Day 1071: Missing Christmas

As the song goes, "I'll be home for Christmas," but as a Disney fan that lives miles and miles away from home, I don't really feel that way at all.

To be fair, I've never actually celebrated Christmas itself at Disney World (or Disneyland for that matter). We have responsibilities here at home. Plus, who in the world would want to go now when I can go in a few weeks when it's much less busy. I have, however, celebrated many Christmas seasons at Walt Disney World, usually around Thanksgiving. In fact, a large chunk of my trips have been during the holiday season, to the point where I take in the holiday traditions as just a regular part of my year.

When I'm far away, on the other hand, things get a little tricky.

There's a Garden of Lights in my area that pretty much everyone gets to during the Holiday season, and I'm always asked about going. I usually turn everyone down though, citing the fact that "it's no Osborne Lights," but truthfully, I think the real reason I turn everyone down is because it only makes me miss home more. And now, with the lights leaving for good after this holiday season, I can't help but wish a bit more than I was home this Christmas.

But that's not all. We can't forget the decorations around the Walt Disney World Resort, or the Gingerbread Singles that are sold at the Grand Floridian (pretty much the only thing I want for Christmas this year). There's the dream lights on the castle, and Holidays around the world at Epcot, plus the holiday tag on IllumiNations that's pretty much my favorite thing during the holiday season.

And yes, I can make my own Gingerbread and put up my own decorations, time my own Christmas lights to "Christmas is Starting Now" or watch the Holiday IllumiNations online, but none of it is quite the same as experiencing it for myself. It's honestly one of the many reasons that I don't have a problem with the prospect of working on Christmas in the future, as long as I'm working at Disney. Yes, the parks are crazy and it's a stressful day, but at least I'd be home for Christmas, and that's really all that matters, right?

Have a magical day!

Day 475: Easter

It's yet another holiday here in our world, and that means another Holiday inspired Blog post. Or somewhat at least. I guess Easter has never really been a super Disney-Holiday for any of us, or me at least. As a kid, Easter was always at my house and we would do the egg hunt and everything and there's church with the Easter breakfast and it just actually ends up being a really long day.

This Easter wasn't much different honestly, with my day beginning at church, and then lunch at my house with family, and then Once with Shovell. But we ended out the day by watching Saving Mr. Banks, which is always a great choice of a film. Shovell hadn't seen it yet, and so we just decided it was a good idea. And guess what guys, I only cried twice this time! That's a lot better than the 7 times I cried the first time, right? I think so.

But overall, I don't see why Disney couldn't be a wonderful happy, springtime filled holiday! And lately the Disney parks have taken a step towards doing just that, with an Easter Egg hunt and meet and greets with the Disney Rabbits. Gosh, those character meet and greets just really make me want to go back to Disney.

Around our house otherwise, not much Disney was to be found this Easter, which is kind of depressing when you really think about it. It's always fun to find little bits of Disney within my holidays. Although I did have a great conversation about Once Upon A Time with one of my friends, and we all know how entertaining I get when that becomes the topic. That's about it though.

So I suppose we'll wrap this blog post up a bit earlier than my normal length. Easter was apparently not the most interesting of holidays this year! But there's plenty more to come!

Have a magical day & Happy Easter!

Day 344: Christmas Time is HERE!

It's finally December, and that means that Christmas time is upon us finally. It means Christmas music, and decorations and cookies and candy and happiness and plenty of Christmas spirit to go around. And that means that there should be some here on the blog too, right!?! I have to tell you right now that throughout the month there's going to be plenty of Christmas Specialty posts, just as I did a few for Halloween and so on and so forth. I mean, I just think there's just so much to talk about when it comes to Christmas time, especially when Disney is involved, so we better get started, right?

So here's a quick preview as to what's coming up later this month!

Days 353, 356 & 358:

On all three of these days you'll get posts on Christmas movies that I watch. I'll try to make sure they all involve Disney, but you know that with me, everything relates to Disney. It should be fun though. Last year I actually set out on a challenge to watch all the movies on ABC Family's 25 days of Christmas, and I don't think I actually was able to do it, but it still brings the point across. There are so many great Christmas movies that I think it makes sense to touch on just a few.

Day 352: A Very Merry Youtube

Yes, I've done several Youtube Series posts, including one for Halloween. So it makes sense that we do one for Winter and Christmas too, right? Yeah, I think so. I mean, anything to get me to watch more Youtube videos is fine by me.

Day 355: A Few of My Favorite Things: Christmas Edition

It couldn't be a Christmas series of posts without a new addition to my series posts! There are so many Holiday events at Walt Disney World that it's hard to pick favorites, but this post will most certainly explore my personal favorites!

Day 357: My Disney Collection Volume 7

In this special Holiday Volume of my Disney Collection we're gonna take a look at the Disney that comes out just for the holidays! There's plenty of it between my bedroom and our Christmas Tree and the other decorations all around the house. And depending on what the weather does there might be a special visitor too!

So that's a quick look into what's coming up in December. I normally don't do posts like this just because I normally have no clue what I'm writing about, but it turns out that I have basically the entire rest of the year already outlined and ready to write out. It's kind of weird looking at how few days are left in 2013!

Here's today's Disney History: 2003: Walt Disney World begins placing motion-sickness bags in the capsules of their newest Epcot attraction, Mission: SPACE. It is the first time Disney has put motion-sickness bags on any of its thrill rides.

Have a magical day!
