Day 760: A Lucky Mug

I'm sure that at this point, many of you have heard about the beautiful new Disney "You Are Here" Starbucks mugs. These things are beautiful, and as a mug collector, specifically a Disney mug collector who drinks unbelievable amounts of Starbucks, these mugs were must-haves for me. Unfortunately, the way these things work is that you can only get them by going and basically buying them yourself from the parks. This isn't a problem for me when it comes to the Disneyland mugs, as I'll be headed out there in August, but for the Epcot collector in me, I have no opportunity to get my hands on the Disney World mugs until who knows when.

So I bought one online.

You know, there are tons of websites out there that will buy something from the parks and ship it to your house and while, on some level, this really isn't fair, I've never been happier that these things exist. I bought an Epcot Starbucks mug on Monday (or maybe it was Tuesday?), of which I paid $30. Everyone pretty much thought I was crazy for spending that much on a simple mug, but I'm pretty sure I'm the one laughing now.

If you know the story with these mugs right now you'll also know that the same Epcot mug I ordered has been pulled from the shelves because of the purple monorail on it, which no longer exists due to an accident a few years back. But by the time they pulled the mugs, only about a week after they first went on shelves, mine was already in the mail.

And now it sits on my own shelf at college:

Although, now looking at this picture, this isn't on my shelf at all. But that's where it sits now. It's an absolutely beautiful mug, far more beautiful than any picture could have told me, and I'm absolutely thrilled that I have one to call my own, which will hopefully hold me over until August when I get the Disneyland and California Adventure ones!

Have a magical day!

Day 269: Simple Disney Things

Since we're still in Pinterest week and I'm doing a great job of not really really really freaking out about Once Upon a Time...at least on this blog...I figured I'd share one of the more special Disney boards I have on Pinterest: Simple Disney Things.

For those of you who haven't seen the Simple Disney Things blog on Tumblr, certainly go and check it out. The layout of the blog makes me sad about the layout of my blog. It's just so beautiful and HTML everything! I really do wish I could do that! You can check out SDT HERE!

But even if you haven't seen the blog itself, I'm fairly certain that even if you haven't been to Disney or are not into it too much, that you've seen at least one or two of the beautiful posts she makes. I don't know how she does it, but they are beautiful. So I picked out a few to share that were on my Pinterest board.

As you can probably guess, there are hundreds of them, and her website makes it really easy to find exactly what you're looking for, depending on what park you're thinking of. Otherwise you can almost always find them on Tumblr or on Pinterest. Just looking through them always makes me really happy. =)

Frumpstagram for today had a prompt of "new," and there's no new thing I love more than the Tangled Rest Area!

Here's today's Disney History: 1993: Kraft ends its sponsorship of EPCOT's the Land Pavilion. Nestle will take over the following day.

Have a magical day!

Day 261: Spanish

We're a ways into the school year now here at college, which seems kind of strange because in High School we'd only be in like, what, the second week? Third maybe? Yeah, we're been here for a month already. That means we've had plenty of time to learn and take tests and write papers and lose sleep over all our homework. Have I done all of those things, luckily no, but my best friend probably has.

But that doesn't mean that you can't find just a little bit of awesomeness in even the hardest, most homework down classes. She's taking Spanish right now, and I, knowing very little Spanish, never fail to speak that little bit that I know when the topic comes up. If you don't know what that Spanish is, here's your hint:

Ok, that wasn't really a hint. It was more of a "here's the answer," but still. If you know Disney, you already know that this is super funny, and I couldn't wait for the day that my best friend learned the words that make up this exact statement. I've gone around saying it for years now, and just the other day she was like, "Know what word is finally on my vocab list? Puertas." And me being me I was like "what's that" and then realized that was the stupidest question of all time.

Yeah, that was seriously a thing I did. I am a shame to Disney fans everywhere. Don't worry though, I realized it within like a second of it leaving my mouth, so that makes up for it, right?

Frumpstagram! I'm really doing well with this, and today's word was "lights," so I went a little out of the box and picked this beautiful piece of modern artwork at the Contemporary Resort made of lights. How awesome is this!?!
And here's today's Disney History: 1986: Captain EO, a 3-D, 70mm, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, musical movie attraction starring Michael Jackson, opens at Disneyland. Directed by Francis Ford Coppola and executive-produced by George Lucas, the movie tells the story of Captain EO (Jackson) and his ragtag crew of space travelers.

Have a magical day!

Day 140: MCO

Now, this might seem like kind of a strange post for today, but trust me, it does have a bit of a point.

This last week, one of my friend's parents took a trip to Florida, and of course they flew in through Orlando International Airport. And since my own Disney trip is quickly approaching, I figured I'd make a post just about it...the airport that is.

The Orlando International Airport is the place most Disney-goers fly through, including myself, and that makes the airport all part of the great adventure each time we go. If you've been there, especially more than one, you know that there are plenty of little things that makes the airport all part of the Disney vacation itself.

The first one is obvious...the Disney Store. It always makes me smile to see Spaceship Earth and the rest of the icons on that wall. I know I did get some video it the last time I went, for the vlog, but it didn't make it into the actual video because I didn't do one for the first day...that will change for this next trip though...since I already have an idea for my first video. But either way, it's a little piece of Disney that's there early, or, if you forgot to grab something from the parks, it's a great last chance to get that extra souvenir.

But if you're like me, you also know that the very first (and last) "attraction" of a Disney vacation is also at the airport...the tram ride of course! Or monorail...I'm not absolutely sure what it's called, at least not off the top of my head, but it's still awesome. I mean, it's a little sad when you don't get that front window seat (although my brother and I always used to like run to get it), but it's still fun to be able to take a ride! I'm pretty sure we have film of this from just about every vacation too...just saying.

And so, MCO is really a big part of the Disney vacation experience, unless you're driving, because that's an entirely different story. But if you do fly, between the Disney store and the monorail and the way the suitcases click on the tile floor (I don't know why it always reminds me of vacation...), it's certainly another great thing you can experience on your trip. And then there's the rental car or Magical Express or a Taxi, or whatever you use to get to Disney, but I feel like that's another post entirely. Maybe I'll do that on a later post, sometime after I've made that trip again. It is only a few months away, after all!

Here's today's Disney History: 2011: Star Wars Weekends returns to Walt Disney World for the 2011 season, the same day as the much anticipated Star Tours attraction reopens with a grand ceremony. More than 50 story combinations are possible for guests to experience aboard Star Tours, so guests can enjoy the attraction multiple times without ever experiencing the same adventure.

Have a magical day!

Day 109: Counting

I first saw this on Pinterest, and when I was looking back through my recent Pins to find inspiration for today's post (there's only so much to write about when it's 10 in the morning), I decided to write today's post on this.

Sadly, there wasn't a link via Pinterest to the whole set, so I had to search on Google...only to find out they were on a Facebook page, which I can't access while at School. So I went on my phone and searched through Google there, only to find out that the pictures come directly from the official Walt Disney World Facebook page...and that there was a whole set of them! I went in through my Facebook app to the official page and got the pictures so I could put a few of them on this post. Either way, a lot of work went into finding these...but it was time well spent!

The backgrounds start off with the number of months until Disney...and I'd be in about the 3 month range at the moment with 80 days left before Disney. And you can bet that when I get my new laptop (hopefully today or early next week!) I'll have the third month as my background (which is a set of Mickey Ears I believe).

Then we transfer to days, and I couldn't help putting the monorail "1 Sleep Until Walt Disney World" on here. I'm a big fan of the monorail (I believe it was actually in one of my very first posts on this blog!), and seeing it in art like this is just awesome. It will most certainly be on my computer when we get down to one day!

And finally we have "Today I'm Going to Walt Disney World." That's right, at midnight, of the day I'm to leave for WDW, this will be on my computer. No doubt about that. It WILL happen.

I haven't talked much about my Disney Countdown App that I look at just about every day of my life...but that will probably make a blog post soon too, because everyone should have a countdown to their Disney trip. It's too exciting not to!

Here's today's Disney History: 1961: Dr. Glenn C. Franklin of San Diego, California, becomes the 25-millionth Disneyland guest. Along with his wife, Helen, their three children, and his mother, the luck Franklin family receive a private guided tour of the Park, a table of honor at a luncheon and unlimited use of attractions all day long.

Have a magical day!
