Day 1463: Disney Resolutions

I may already have most of my New Year's Resolutions figured out, including the one I shared yesterday to actively write a blog post a day for Everyday Disney, but the resolutions don't have to end there. This year I've got several resolutions, all of which I created based on things I've tried to do or have partially already nestled into my life. In other words, instead of going cold-turkey on a bunch of different resolutions, I'm taking works in progress and making resolutions to fulfill them in completion. My resolutions aren't the full point of this blog post though.

It may be January 2, but that doesn't mean it's too late to figure out a few last minute goals of your own for 2017, and in the spirit of all things Disney, here are just a few Disney-Inspired Resolutions!

Be More Like Tiana - It's probably a good idea for me to throw this one in here specifically because it's a bit of my own resolution for the year. Tiana is incredibly dedicated to her work, and while we all need to dig a little deeper to find out what really matters, working towards our goals with everything we have is also important! So be more disciplined with your work this year, find your focus, and then create the best work you possibly can!

DisneyBound More - I definitely recall the days of my sophomore year when DisneyBounding was a huge part of my life. That year, I continued my Once Upon A Time DisneyBounds, participated in the March DisneyBound challenge, and definitely had more than a few outfits planned for my Disney trips. However, in the past couple of years, I've gotten a bit out of the habit, and I think DisneyBounding more often is a great resolution for us all to bring a bit more Disney into our daily lives! If you need inspiration, you can check out the official DisneyBound website by Leslie Kay!

Follow Your Dreams - Have you ever had a dream like Rapunzel? My guess is that you have. Make it your resolution this year to follow that dream, and then, if you complete it, find a new one! This is definitely something that I'll be working towards this year with applying to work at Walt Disney World, so come on and dream with me!

Be Healthy - This one's pretty typical for a New Year's Resolution, but let me tell you, it's never been so easy and so Disney. Check out The Healthy Mouse, created by Jessica McDonald, where you can find a wealth of wonderful suggestions for clean-eating recipes that are both delicious and Disney inspired! Since joining a Facebook group filled with Disney fans dedicated to clean eating, I've been more motivated to eat well and find health in my own life, and it all started with a look at Jessica's blog!

Join a new Disney Community - Speaking of Facebook groups, I've loved becoming a member of several internet Disney communities over the past few years, whether it be on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter. These communities can get you excited for your upcoming trip, give you new ideas for what you can experience in the parks, rave with you about how much you loved the latest movie, or just offer general support, and there are a ton of them out there! Jump in and join the discussion!

Watch All the Disney Movies - I've been working on this for years and I'm still not past Winnie the Pooh, which is only roughly halfway through the lineup, but hey, it's still a great goal! This year, make it a resolution to watch all of the classic animated films we grew up with!

Exercise More - I think this one can be completed rather nicely by heading to the parks for an extra trip? After all, where else would I consciously walk over 15 miles in one day for fun? And of course you'll have to prepare for all that walking by exercising at home to get accustomed, so really, it's a great resolution!

Eat More Churros - Or not?

As you can see, there are plenty of Disney inspired resolutions to take on as we head into 2017, and I want to know what your resolutions are! Let me know in the comments below or on the Everyday Disney Facebook page or other social media! And while you're there, you might as well give them a follow, which will make it easier for you to catch upcoming posts as I work on my own New Year's Resolution of blogging right here!

Have a magical day!

Day 372: Forfit

Remember back on like January 1st when I said I was going to do a Disney Fact a day? Yeah, not working so well for me. It's not really that it's hard to find Disney facts either (although it does take some time to make sure that the facts are correct), it's just that in general, it takes a lot of time.

It's no secret that while I generally intend to blog everyday of my life, I often get behind. Goodness, I've been behind this week again, and we're only a few days into 2014. Granted, exactly a year ago I was sick and also missed blogging, but still. Not good. Not good at all.

But truthfully, I wrote many of the blog posts for the past couple of days, it's just that I didn't have a chance to find my Disney Facts to add to the end and I didn't want to post them until they had the facts on the bottom. It's then that something occurred to me. All last year when I was doing Disney History, it was fun and everything, but I HATED finding the history. Ok, maybe I'm going a bit overboard here, because I did always find it to be really interesting, but sometimes things just got to be really busy, and to be honest, the number one reason I would get behind on my blog was not because I didn't have the time at the end of my day to sit down at my computer and write a blog post, but because I didn't have my History ready for that month.

If I'm going back to college in a few weeks, and I know that my schedule and classes are harder this semester, why should I be adding on hours of work that I really don't have to have? I'm not sure what, or if, the Disney History or Daily Disney Facts will be replaced with, but maybe something will come along eventually. For now I think it's just a better idea to focus on what IS on the blog...and to complete the rest of the missions I have set up for this year.

Plus, it's kind of hard to keep multiple New Years Resolutions, especially considering it's hard to keep just one. Let's just focus on that one...year two of Everyday Disney.

Have a magical day!

Day 366: Here We Are

Sooo...do I start the blog posts with Day 1 or what? I guess I've decided that I'm just going to keep going up because that's a heck of a lot easier than going 1-365 again. I mean when you get in the middle you get lost and everything anyway so what's the point? If I get behind I'll have to make a big document and everything no matter what, plus it might be kind of cool to continue this for years to come and get to day like 1000. That would be epic.

I guess this continuing thing means that I'm in for another year of blogging. It's kind of funny to think that a year ago I was telling myself that I was going to do this blog for a year, and now I'm here having done it. I'm pretty sure even I thought I was crazy back then, and I probably was, but I got it done, just as I'll continue for another year. I was debating stopping a few weeks ago (at the end of the year of course), when I was still at college, and I said to my roommate "I just don't think I could stop." This blog is too much of a part of my life for me to stop now. It would be like giving up halfway through a game...although I guess now we're just in overtime.

But I said a lot of that yesterday already, so there's no need to be sentimental. For now, let's talk about the future of the blog. I may have been able to tell myself a year ago that I was going to blog every day for a year and do it, but that doesn't mean that I actually accomplish everything I set out to do. So maybe that's really my new New Year's Resolution...I want to accomplish everything on this blog post and more. Seems fair enough, doesn't it? Yeah, I think so. We'll call them missions, and then throughout the year I could add more or something and when I actually complete one I can say "Mission 1 Accomplished."

To be honest I just want to say "Mission Accomplished."

Mission 1

A year ago or so, one of the things I said I wanted to do on the blog was "Featured Attractions." I talked about this idea on Day 4, believe it or not, and described it as such: "I always thought it would be a longer blog post when I have time, featuring a brief history of the attraction, my own personal description of it and a video if there is one." It was supposed to be this thing where I would use my own pictures and talk about the attraction and my favorite parts about it and so on and so forth, one a week, but it never actually happened. To be honest I never even wrote ONE Featured Attraction post.

So why is that? I know a year ago I had it all planned out by the month and everything, how every Monday I would do one of these (although we know now that Monday's are Once days...so maybe it'll be like Saturday or something). What I hope to accomplish with these posts exactly I have no idea, but I assume eventually I'll come up with a basic template that I'll follow, kind of like what I do for my series posts right now. Plus, maybe it'll help me when I get around to making stuff for the band trip!

Mission 2

All of last year (minus January), I did the Daily Disney History. And that's all fun and games and so on and so forth. It was a good time (although it often times took me a couple of hours just to write up the history each month), but I just don't know if I want to do that again. Plus, there are a couple of days throughout the year where it's like "Nothing really interesting happened, and now I already used the one already even remotely interesting thing last year...so I can't use that again."

But I still wanted to do something similar. When I was debating the other day what this "something" was, I decided that I would attempt a "Daily Disney Fact" or "Daily Disney Did You Know" or something. You won't find one on tonight's post because that's on my list of things to check out tomorrow, but I'm going to do it on a trial run throughout January for sure. Following that who knows what will happen, but if it works out this month I hope to continue it throughout the entire year.

Mission 3

I've been debating it for a while, and I don't know on what scale it will happen, but you'll see a bit of a redesign coming up in the next few months. It takes a lot to manage one of these blogs, believe it or not, but I want to make mine the best it can possibly be. Now, there are a lot of websites that I go to and use all the time. Ones that I look at for Disney News, the Website where I get Disney History, Books and so on and so forth, and they all should get some credit here too.

What I'm saying is that over the next few weeks you'll start to see new pages, hopefully. I am looking to include an archive and new links to my different pages and maybe even a complete overhaul of the site (although I love how it looks right now so that's probably not going to happen...at least not on a super large scale). Along with a page for crediting others, there might be one specifically on me, on how the blog started and stuff like that, plus who knows what else. You get the idea though.

To be totally honest I don't have anything else at the moment...but if everything works out, along with those other pages you'll see one with my "Missions" for the year. Like I said, it seems like a good way to spice things up around here, especially since it can kind of drag once and a while when it's like "I went to class...I did my homework...I came back and went to sleep." That really is sometimes my life, and other times I could write three blog posts just on what happened in one day.

If you have any ideas for missions, please let me know! I'm up for just about anything, and it doesn't have to be specifically on this blog. Tumblr, Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, I'll take tons of challenges. The only rule? It has to have to do with Disney...and I guess I technically have to be able to blog about it. It'll be fun!

I do know, however, that the year ahead will be a spectacular one. This spring semester I'll be taking a class on Classic and Contemporary Fairytales, so you'll be seeing more book reviews (and yes, if there is a Disney movie that relates I fully intend to watch it). I've got not one but TWO Disney World trips ahead of me this year, one of which will be 100% unlike any trip I have taken thus far. And who knows what else.

But no matter what, I do know that it will be a future that we will take, and make, together. =)

Have a magical day, and HAPPY 2014!

Day 365: The End...Or...

Well, here's part one of the finale of 2013 (although technically it's posted as part two...go back a day to see the other half later today when I get around to posting it). It was kind of interesting trying to figure out how everything was going to fit together, but I knew I wanted this post to be the absolute last one for 2013, because it's like my final words on this giant crazy New Year's Resolution I had for 2013.

To be totally honest, I can't believe I'm sitting here right now. I can't even remember what made me decide, a year ago, to blog about Disney every day in 2013. I have no clue where that even really came up, other than for the fact that I had a mostly empty blog sitting here that could easily be used, and the title Everyday Disney lent itself well to the prospect of blogging everyday. So if anything, that's where the idea came from.

Over the past two days I've gone through every single post on my blog, as you will see in the post previous to this one, and while I didn't read all of them word for word (and for good reason...that could take days in itself), I did read a few posts, one of them being the very first one: Day 1: The Beginning...Of Your Future.

In that post I said this: "But since I don't have many (or any really) other New Years Resolutions, why can't this be it? Instead of planning to lose weight, eat better, read a series of books, learn how to bake or cook an entire new series of foods, or even write a story (something I am currently doing in my free time already), I am going to do this. I am going to write a blog, called Everyday Disney, which for 365 days, I will write a post a day, or at least put something on the blog in order to keep up with the days. I really do hope that I can accomplish this, because as it appears right now, I love the look of this blog and the idea that it holds, and I hope that you do too, since I would love to have some people follow and chat with me along the way, so that I can share my extreme love of Disney with everyone around me.

Thank you, and here's to a magical year, filled with endless possibilities and new frontiers!"

Have I accomplished everything I talked about in that first post? I like to think that I did. I've gotten behind on days more times than I can count, but I've always caught myself back up in one way or another...even if I had to write a post almost two months after the day it was being posted on. There's a story behind every post: where I wrote it, why I wrote it, who I wrote it about or with. And I've gotten the chance to meet and talk with some wonderful people along the way too...especially a number of you on Instagram!

But how have I changed through all of this? At the beginning of the year I was somewhat of a different person, but I guess they say that college does that to you. 2013 has been one of the more interesting years of my life, and it came with a lot of big decisions, adventures, changes and possibilities. But I'm happy to say that this blog has changed even how I look at Disney, and it's changed it in a good way. For the first time in my life, or at least in a really long time, I feel closer to Disney than ever before. Of course, things are once again changing with the new year, but I am very excited for my two upcoming trips in 2014 (and hopefully another one a year from now in January 2015).

I would like to personally thank everyone who has helped me with this blog, read the blog, glanced at the blog, promoted the blog, repined the pinterest posts, liked my pictures on Instagram, followed the Facebook page or anything else. Everyday Disney has become a very important part of my life, and I have to say that I'm really glad I decided to do it this year.

So, here's to 2013, and what a wonderful year it has been!

Here's today's Disney History: 1971: The very first Magic Kingdom New Year's Eve Party is held at Walt Disney World, from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Have a magical day and a very happy new year! See you in the future!

Day 1: The Beginning...Of Your Future

While it is not yet the new year while I am writing this, I am hoping to get a head start on this blog. This is surely going to be a long post, but I will hopefully split it up into several posts over the next few weeks. For instance, while I don't talk a lot about myself in this particular entry, the next one might be completely about me and my Disney background.

But for starters, I need to explain what I'm trying to accomplish with this blog.

Over the past several years I've been a blog writer. I've loved writing in general, and when I was a Freshman in High School I was brought into the ever expanding world of technology and the internet. I started my first blog for my French class, and from there I began a new blog called WDW Kids, which in all respects, failed and I let it drop to basically nothing. I still have that old blog, because for some reason I can't seem to part with it.

Then, a number of months ago I started this blog, and at the same time I started another blog for something completely different. This blog, Everyday Disney, was going to be my main blog, and the one I posted on everyday, considering the name. Well, even after multiple attempts, that didn't work. But since it is so close to the end of 2012 and so close to the beginning of 2013, I figured that if there was any time to ever start a 365 day blog about Disney, this was it.

And so, here I am, writing what will probably my 4th or 5th "first post" of Everyday Disney. The last several times were unsuccessful, largely because I just didn't have the ambition to do something like a blog post a day, even if it's just several smaller pieces that incorporate to the larger picture. I was thrown off by the lack of views and comments, and in general, felt like I was talking to a wall...much like the one I'm talking to now.

But since I don't have many (or any really) other New Years Resolutions, why can't this be it?

Thank You, and here's to a magical year, filled with endless possibilities and new frontiers!

Have a magical day!
