Day 1153: Anna, Elsa, Tiana

The world's latest obsession is definitely adult coloring books, and I couldn't be more excited. As an artsy person in general, I've always loved coloring, and now that's apparently socially acceptable for adults to color too, I'm even more excited. Even Disney is getting in on the action, creating adult coloring books that are by far some of the most intricate I've seen out there. My mom gifted me the first two in the set - Disney Princess and Frozen - to test out, and Megan and I put them to use while watching Newsies recently. Because why wouldn't you want to watch a Disney movie and color in a Disney coloring book?

Megan picked the Disney Princess book, eager to find her favorite Disney Princess: Tiana. I watched as she colored the page, and I got really excited when I saw her color choice for the intricate heart outline. I really thought the dark blue brought some real contrast to the picture and made it different from what one might usually expect!

Meanwhile, I dove into Frozen, specifically intent on finding a picture of both Anna and Elsa. I found this one, and quite honestly had to look up a picture of them from the movie to make sure I got the color combinations correct. I think it turned out rather well though!

I think it's pretty obvious at this point that I'm going to be spending more time with my nose in a coloring book than I may have before, but with all the pictures I now have available to color, I don't think that's going to be a problem.

Day 795: The Love Triangle Theory: Volume 2

Let me tell you flat out: this post has been a long time in coming.

If you've been around since the beginning, or near beginning, of Everyday Disney, you might remember a blog post I did on Day 98, titled Love Triangles. If you haven't read that post, you can go back and find it HERE. Basically, I have this theory, which I, obviously, call the Love Triangle Theory. It states that in any love triangle, regardless of the situation or film or previous relations (*cough* Luke & Leia *cough*), the second two portions of the love triangle will automatically end up together. Of course, there's probably some real science behind all of this, like the fact that, yes, of course the second two in like a RomCom will end up together because otherwise there wouldn't be a love triangle and so on and so forth...but I have new couples to prove my point here.

Hmmm...but what order to put them in? I call this volume the Once Upon A Time edition soo.....

Robin & Regina:

Affectionately called OutlawQueen by us Oncers, this couple definitely showcases the Love Triangle Theory, especially as we continue forward in the season. I will not, however, give away any spoilers, so let's take a step back and examine one of the favorite couples on the show. Robin Hood is married to Maid Marian, who is dead and then not dead (that sentence, oddly enough, sums up the whole show...dead and then not dead. Wow), and meanwhile Robin Hood falls in love with Regina, who's former true love, Daniel, died when her mother ripped out and crushed his heart. Regardless, that means that we have Marian, Robin and Regina as the three points on the love triangle. Now yes, I know what you're thinking, "But Lizzie, Robin Hood went to New York with Marian and picked her!" But you see, it's not over yet, and I, like many others, do indeed believe that OutlawQueen will come back as endgame. After all, he did say, when Marian was frozen, by the way, that he loves Regina, and we all know that True Love's kiss didn't work...so there...point proven.

Anna & Kristoff:

Just because this is the OUAT Edition doesn't mean these Frozen characters can't make an appearance too! After all, they WERE on OUAT! By this point, we all know the story of Anna and Kristoff, and of course, the second I saw Frozen over a year ago I was like "LOVE TRIANGLE THEORY!" because these two, plus Hans, are literally a 100% perfect example. So we have Princess Anna, who meets Hans and wants to marry him within a song and five minutes. Part one of the love triangle. She THEN meets Kristoff, second, and they go on the giant adventure and she still thinks Hans in her true love even though he isn't and then she ends up with Kristoff. Easy enough, right? Obviously, on OUAT we know they get married (after an extremely long other adventure that also involves Hans and pirates and a curse and yeah). Point Proven...again.

Charming & Snow:

I'm not really sure how much this one counts, but I think it does because back in Season 1 there was the whole Kathryn thing, so let's think this through. Snow and Charming didn't meet until after he was already engaged to Abigail (Kathryn), therefore making them the second halves of the love triangle, even in Storybrooke. So the whole time you just KNOW that they're going to end up together...although I guess we kind of knew that even without the whole Love Triangle Theory thing but STILL...POINT PROVEN!

Emma & Hook:

Of course the daughter of a successful love triangle would also be part of a love triangle...and of course I'd save the best for last. Granted, Hook and Emma are actually really screwed up when it comes to love triangles. I mean, after all, there was the whole memory loss thing, and a character death (And then un-death...and then re-death), and then the time travel and snow monster and really this is just getting tiring...but they are one of the greatest examples of the love triangle, and the reason that it's taken me two years to post Volume 2 of the theory. I've been waiting for my OTP to become cannon enough to make this post for so long, and I refused to make Volume two without them, so lucky for me, the love triangle theory continues. Basically, we had this situation:

Emma meets Neal, falls in love with Neal, has Henry with Neal, but Neal abandoned her, so then she went to Storybrooke like 12 years later, where she eventually ends up going to the Enchanted Forest, where she meets Hook (second), then they all go back to Storybrooke, and Neal comes back, and then dies, but then he comes back (Again), and then there's a really awkward love triangle throughout Neverland and then Hook says he's gonna back off, but then Emma has to leave and Hook saves her and Neal dies (again) and then CaptainSwan becomes a thing after a really weird duel CaptainSwan moment in the past. Wow that's confusing. But it's also yet another example of the love triangle theory, and probably one of the more important ones when it comes down to it.

Regardless, the point with all of these is this: the love triangle theory always works. As for Rumbelle, it works for them too, except for right now because who knows what's gonna go down with this whole Will Scarlet thing. I just hope that whatever happens, they don't mess up the theory. It would put a real downer on this whole idea.

Day 654: Halloween Costumes?

Once and a great while, there's a blog post somewhere or a news article that I just can't not talk about, and this is most certainly one of those times. I happened to be going through my Facebook feed the other day, not at all intent on finding blog post topics, and I stumbled across not one, not even two, but THREE topics. It's great considering I'm behind once again and need to figure out how to fill the last few blog posts from earlier in the year, not to mention the last week.

This post, however, does indeed have to do with Once Upon A Time, and actually, it's more like two posts that inspired this one. First, ABC posted an article about "5 Easy Halloween Costumes from Once Upon A Time." Of course I clicked on it because really, why wouldn't I? It lists 5 different characters, including Snow White, Hook, Emma, Rumpelstiltskin, and Regina, but really, this article made me laugh, although we'll get to that in a second.

Then there was this article on Disney Style, "Emma Swan Just Became Your New Homecoming Inspiration," where they discuss the spectacular dress Emma wears on her date with Hook in Episode 4x04 (because yeah, although technically on October 16 it's not a thing yet, I'm writing it on the 19th and have already experienced the perfectness that was CaptainSwan Date Night.) They are right though, I would love to have Emma's dress if I had a homecoming dance to go to. I don't, but hey, that's alright because I do this weekly remember?

Yeah, that's exactly it. Why dress up as a Once character for one or two days a year when you can do it once a week!?!

I realized that I haven't blogged much about OUAT since the premiere and therefore haven't included the pictures from my most recent Disneybounds, including the double Disneybound that occurred on October 19 (in the future...ooooo).

I can't remember if I shared the Disneybound for episode 4x02: White Out, but we'll share it again anyway because gosh I just love Anna!

And then I played the bad guy for a week...Hans!

But when it came to CaptainSwan Date Night, I think I went a bit all-out. Katie, my next-door neighbor and friend as well as the person who inspired the OUAT Disneybound Challenge, once asked me if I could figure out how to do a CaptainSwan Disneybound, and therefore Disneybound as two characters at once. Well, this is as close as it's going to get, and I'm pretty happy about how they turned out! Officially, the Disneybound for 4x04: The Apprentice was Hook in his new outfit, one that I've been excited about since I found out about his costume change this summer. But when I saw Emma's dress and it's closeness to a dress I actually own (and bought for a previous Emma Disneybound), I couldn't resist throwing that in there too!

See? I don't need to dress up as a OUAT Character for Halloween (Although I'll be reprising Elsa just as I did Hook last year!) because I literally get to do this every week. Honestly a lot of people probably think I'm crazy. I mean, there was a lot of outrage this last week about Emma dressing up for her date with Hook, but seriously? I dress up for a TV show. Why do I do it? Partly because I love a challenge, but I think the main reason is I just find it fun. My roommates and friends are always guessing about who I'll be next and finding outfits inspired by some of these characters is always an adventure. So yeah, maybe I'm a bit crazy, but I'm cool with that.

Plus, I feel like stopping now would be awful. It's a thing, and I intend to keep it that way.

Have a magical day!

Day 478: Tangled or Frozen?

To be honest, I'm not totally sure if I already talked about this, but my gut is telling me I didn't, at least not in detail, so here we are with a blog post!

It's funny actually, because I think the reason I feel like I already talked about it is probably because I planned on talking about it and never actually got around to it. Yep, this is one of those times for sure. But the other day I had this discussion with a friend of mine. The topic? Tangled or Frozen? Which is better? Which is your favorite? And why?

She said Frozen, and I can't speak for her as to why, but there are a lot of things I love about the movie. The music, for one, is spectacular. I love the music of Frozen. I love singing it, playing it, listening to it, parodying it. Everything. And the characters are great. I love Anna, and the twist with Hans was something none of us saw coming (as is evident in the wealth of posts about people gasping "NO" when he says his famous lines).

But on my side? It's just not Tangled.

I loved Tangled, probably more than I should. No, let's rephrase that. I LOVE Tangled. It's for sure one of the few Disney movies I've seen more times than I can really count (I have no idea how many times I've seen it), but the second I was able to see it again, I did, and I watched it over and over and over and over. And don't even get me started with Flynn Rider. For sure my favorite Disney character, hands down. Maybe it's his Han Solo-ness, or the fact that he's super handsome, or he has a heart of gold or can sing, I don't know, but I love him.

So the simple answer here is yes, I love Tangled more. For plot, and music wise it's just as brilliant, the characters are lovable (did I mention Flynn?), it's a great twist on the tale, has a great plotline and is just overall a great movie.

And therefore, Tangled will hold that spot in my heart forever. Or at least until I come up with a new movie to obsess over.

Have a magical day!

Day 331: Frozen

This is kind of strange for me, since previous to today, I've only seen one Disney Movie on it's opening day...ever. That movie, actually a Disney Pixar Movie, was Up, and I saw it with my Middle School Jazz Band at the Drive In Theater in Eighth Grade. But my fellow music majors and I have been freaking out about Frozen for weeks now, so when we were discussing when we were going to see it I had to make a decision. Either I go to see it over Thanksgiving break or feel completely out of place...and I'm supposed to be the Disney obsessed one!

So it was decided that I would go see it over Thanksgiving break, and since the rest of break is so crazy, it left me with one choice of day: Opening Day. Perfectly fine by me because I was so excited, and that now means that I have plenty of time to go see it again, and drag my best friends along with me.

You see, I adored this movie, and certainly recommend going to see it. The music has been stuck in my head all day (and yesterday too honestly, before I even saw the movie), the entire thing was funny, with adorable characters and a plot twist that I did NOT see coming. Plus it isn't a regular Princess movie as many people might think. Similar to Tangled, it's not the cookie-cutter Princess Movie. Instead of being about finding a prince, although Anna does plenty of that, the story is ultimately about the power of family and the love that family members share, meaning that it's absolutely perfect for Thanksgiving.

Plus, and I'll talk about this some other time more in depth when I make Round 2 of my Love Triangle Theory, we have just that, a love triangle! That's something we haven't had in a Disney movie before (at least not that I can think of off the top of my head), and it made me insanely excited! And I may or may not have found several little moments where I'm like "THAT APPLIES TO CAPTAINSWAN!" Yeah, it was a great time.

But by far my favorite part was how relateable the entire thing was for me. My friends and I are always putting Tangled references into our lives, but it's like this movie made references to us! Not the other way around! Like we have our little jokes with one another and seriously so many of them were in this movie and I could not help but continuously say "Megan needs to see this!" because it's just that funny!

I also Disneybounded for the showing I went to, although the theater was really not busy at all, so no one other than me really saw it, but you see it now, so that's good! If you can't tell I was Disneybounding as Anna, with my blue dress, pink scarf, black leggings and boots (those last two of which you can't see). I also had my hair in braids kind of like she does, only I don't have bangs so that was kind of difficult.

And when we came out of the theater things were, shall we say, Frozen! That's right, we had our first actual snowfall, which, for me, means that one has to drive way slower on the way home. It was awesome though, and totally fit the music we had playing all the way home...which I'm sure you can guess based on this blog post what that music was. And finally, to be honest, I can't even figure out which of them is my favorite character. I LOVE EVERYONE!

Overall, I think that, to a point, the film resembles Tangled, but it's in a way I can't quite pinpoint. I mean, it has the whole locked away in a tower/castle thing, the "I want to be free" thing, the magic, the adventure and the death solved by true love, but otherwise the story is very, very different, and I loved every moment of it. You can bet I'll be seeing Frozen again!

Frumpstagram asked "What's Cookin'?" and my only response can be pie...and lots of it! A year ago (ok, a little less than a year ago) I was at Disney eating that Apple Pie right there, for Thanksgiving Dinner. And since there's always plenty of pie at Walt Disney World, I think that more than counts for today's picture!

Here's today's Disney History: 1955: Bill Nye the Science Guy is born in Washington, D.C. Besides appearing on an episode of Disney Channelg's MMC, Nye acted as a science consultant for the 1997 feature Flubber. A comedian, TV Host, Science educator and mechanical engineer, Nye appears in Ellen's Energy Adventure in Epcot and provides the voice in the "antiquated" museum preshow to Animal Kingdom's Dinosaur. Nye also appears in the "Design Lab" of CyberSpace Mountain inside DisneyQuest at WDW where he refers to himself as "Bill Nye the Coaster Guy."
