Day 992: Arrrrrrrrr

Happy Talk Like a Pirate Day from Cardboard Colin and I!

Talk Like a Pirate Day is absolutely one of my favorite days of the year, although it might have something to do with the fact that I live with a cardboard pirate and eagerly await the return of my favorite pirate on TV. Regardless, we have a good time every year on TLAPD, and this year Cardboard Colin and I thought it might be fun to share some Priate themed jokes with you:

"Why does it take pirates so long to learn the alphabet?"
Because they can spend years at C!

"What do you get when you cross a pirate with a librarian?"
Cap'n Book!

"Why is pirating addictive?"
They say once ye lose yer first hand, ye get hooked!

"What goes thump-thump Arr!, thump-thump Arr!?"
A pirate falling down the stairs.

"Where is the ocean the deepest?"
On the bottom.

"What's a pirate's favorite kind of cookie?"
Ships Ahoy.

Oh, and Cardboard Colin has one for you too:

In case you were wondering, yes, you can now follow my cardboard friend on Twitter! Just search for him @CardboardColin!

Have a magical talk like a pirate day mates!

Day 855: Canoes

The things you stumble across at college can often times be absolutely out of the ordinary, and yet somehow they often times relate right back to Disney. To be completely honest, the story of how this blog post topic came about is something I'm not even totally sure of, but it happened, and therefore I needed to share!

A week or so ago, Megan showed me a video of a Freestyle Canoeing Routine that she watched in one of her classes, and we had a good time watching it. I was actually simulatneously impressed, confused and set into a fit of hysterics, but that's mostly because of the fact that finals have been upon us and that makes us all go a little insane. Regardless, we watched a few more videos, and eventually stumbled on this one:

This video was way better than the first one we watched, for sure, although it might have something to do with the Pirate element of this. I greatly appreciate the fact that he dressed as a pirate for this routine, and the tricks he did were way cooler than any of the others we've seen. Then again, I know absolutely nothing about professional freestyle canoeing so....

Have a magical day!

Day 845: Never Grow Up

Believe it or not, I wasn't always as crazy about Captain Hook as I am today. In fact, the number of ways my life has changed to involve everything pirates and Peter Pan in the past few years still astonishes me. And yet, it seems that, in some ways, Peter Pan has always been there without me really knowing it, long before Captain Hook and long before Once Upon A Time.

Growing Up (Ha!), Peter Pan just wasn't my favorite movie. I'd watch it every once and a while, and there was certainly a period where I really loved the sequel "Return to Neverland," but I much preferred Lady and the Tramp or The Lion King or even Hercules or The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Even in the parks, the elements of Peter Pan just kind of escaped me. I wasn't a huge fan of the attraction, and up until the past few trips, I rarely visited it. Now though? A "slight" obsession with Captain Hook has turned my life inside out, in more ways than one. I realized not long ago that I've actually been a Oncer longer than I've been a Star Wars fan, as OUAT would have premiere in October of 2011, only two months after my trip to Disneyland. It wouldn't be until later that year (sometime in November) that I would watch Episodes 5 and 6 for the first time and become completely addicted to the series. Regardless, Captain Hook wouldn't appear in my life for another year, sometime in the fall of 2012, before Everyday Disney, before my graduation from High School and long before today, where, prior to this blog post, I took a "Hook break," watching a couple of scenes from OUAT on my laptop as motivation to continue working. Obviously, it worked.

But let's go back to a strange element of Peter Pan in my life that's been present since before Hook waltzed in. It didn't occur to me until recently that Pan has been a part of my social media presence longer than I thought. On social media sites, descriptions can be taken seriously or the exact opposite, but at some point a couple of years ago, I set my description on both Twitter and Pinterest to a quote; one from Peter Pan:

"Think of all the Joy you'll find when you leave the world behind and bid your cares goodbye."

To be completely honest, I can't recall what made me pick this particular quote for my description, but I haven't changed it in years, and now it's just a staple. Changing it now feels wrong and silly. So I won't change it...not as long as it's still relevant to my life.

Little did I know, however, that the quote was just the beginning. With the appearance of Colin O'Donoghue in my life, things were about to flip upside down, and now I live in a world partially filled by pirates. There's pirate stuff on my desk, on my shelves, I have pirate inspired clothing and jewelry, not to mention my Hook pants. And did I mention that something as simple as wearing eyeliner came from this whole obsession? Because here's the first time I wore it:

Why was I wearing eyeliner? If you remember correctly, it was to DisneyBound a very particular character on Once Upon A Time. Good times. Good times indeed.

And so, as you can see, Peter Pan has actually played a pretty crucial role on my life, whether I like to admit it or not. I still don't really watch Peter Pan very often, nor am I a huge fan of the original novel, but I am quite the fan of a villain-turned-hero that graces my screen every Sunday evening, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Have a magical day!

Day 610: The Viking Lady

It's not just Disney Deja Vu that brings complete Disney randomness to mind. As you already well know, often times little hints of Disney just sort of pop up in my classes here at SNC, and this semester seems to be no different. As a matter of fact, I believe I've thought of Disney in class more this semester than the previous two, although Fairy Tales definitely puts up a fight. However, that was more of Disney movie thinking process, and this is most certainly stuck in the parks.

In the matter of about one sentence, my music theory class connected Haunted Mansion, Vikings and a discussion we had had in my British Literature Course about Pirates, because yes, all these things are related. And as a bonus, Epcot.

For starters: Music Theory. We have a history class once a week where we learn about the history of music and how it came from the simple chants of the earliest days to the music we hear today, whether that be Jazz, Orchestras or on the radio. Today we happened to be discussing Opera, and the age-old question, of course, came up: "What's up with the Viking Hats?"

As far as Opera itself goes, there's actually a very easy explanation for this. The Fat Lady with a Viking Hat is NOT what opera actually is, as it actually only has to do with one composer: Wagner. As far as the rest of the operas in the world go, the Viking Lady isn't exactly the most common character.

But of course, my mind went on a bit of a run once the Opera singer idea came up, because as far as Disney is concerned, there IS a viking singer somewhere on property...multiple properties actually. Know where?

Here's a hint:

Know it now? Of course the Haunted Mansion has an Opera singer, although her Viking Helmet seems to be a bit different from those we generally think of, no horns involved. But wait! There's a reason for this too, and for the answer to that we're going to have to take a detour to my English class.

My British Literature course features some of the oldest English Literature that has been found, and it's translated so that we can make some kind of sense of it. I honestly don't even remember how we got on the topic, but sometime last week we were discussing Vikings, and how for the most part, Vikings were basically Pirates, or at least were the equivalent to the groups we were talking about.

And with all this talk about Vikings (and Pirates), I decided to do some research.

Turns out, Vikings never actually had horns on their helmets. That's purely a misconception. So that Fat Viking Lady that sings Opera isn't even really a Viking Lady, hence the reason her helmet looks different in the Haunted Mansion (or maybe it's just because she's a ghost and the wings are a humorous addition). Either way, I read up on Vikings, not a lot, but enough to get a sense of what we were talking about and couldn't help but think of Norway and Malestrom. I'm one of those people that generally sits and watches the film unless it isn't running, and I'll be super sad to see the entire attraction go if Frozen does indeed take over (and now's when the next blog post will get really confusing because all I'll do is talk about how much I love Frozen).

But either way, I guess you could say that within that one question about Viking Hats in Opera, I associated Music to the Haunted Mansion to Pirates to Malestrom to Frozen. Now that certainly doesn't happen every day.

Have a magical day!

Day 556: The Dangers of Tumblr

Social Media can be really helpful, and I really honestly love it. One of my favorite things about Tumblr is how completely honest everyone is. There's like this wall built up around a lot of people...a wall of no judgement because a large portion of the accounts there aren't necessarily seen by the people we share our lives with. That's a nice relief, especially when you spend a good portion of your time reblogging GIFs of Hook and Emma.

But Tumblr can also be an incredibly dangerous place. There are a lot of things on Tumblr, yes, and that includes spoilers. Believe it or not, since OUAT returned (yeah, I'm writing this WAYYYY after the post date), I've been pretty good about spoilers. I know some here and there, and I still read the official press release for every episode, but at the same time, I don't generally go searching out spoilers. The problem is they seem to find me anyways.

It's just like how I honestly can't go anywhere without finding pirate references. It was in an episode of Hart of Dixie, I found a Captain Hook reference in a 230 page magazine...it was in the fine print people, and I was skimming, and don't even get me started about trying to go out in public now that Halloween is so close. I just can't go anywhere.

And apparently I can't go on Tumblr either. Why these things seem to find me instead of me finding them (or avoiding such a scenario), I have no idea. Granted, yes, I was searching for specifically Captain Hook because I was writing a post about...you guessed it...Captain Hook.

BUT I DID NOT NEED TO KNOW THAT SPOILER THANKS VERY MUCH.

I guess it's really all my own fault though, isn't it? I really need to be a better person and try to avoid them.

But Tumblr...it's just so great...

Have a magical day!

Day 363: The Second Half

Back on July 1st, I wrote a post on how I was halfway through the year, and then talked about my favorite posts from the first six months of my blog. Although we still have two more days left in 2013, I have other stuff planned for those days, and decided that right now would be a great time to feature my favorite posts from each month in the second half of 2013.

Sunday, July 14, 2013: Day 195: Pictures Galore!

Remember that time this year when I went to Disney World for my birthday? Yeah, this post was timed smack dab in the middle of it. Of course, it's often times really hard to blog when I'm actually there, especially since I like to pair my daily vlog with the blog post for that day, and I don't like to post things unless the post is 100% finished. So those posts that occurred when I was in Florida weren't posted until long after, but I think of the ones from my trip, this is my favorite.

I mean, I love them all, but the post on Day 195 had all of my favorite Instagram pictures from my Disney World 2013 Photo Challenge...and I just love sharing my beautiful pictures from Instagram!

Friday, August 30, 2013: Day 242: "Air Cooling"

August meant a new adventure for me: College. And along with this new adventure came a new home: my dorm room. And along with my dorm room came heat. And lots of it.

Those first few weeks at SNC were absolutely terrible when it came to how warm it was. And the reason I chose this post is because it always makes me laugh. I never actually attempted Uncle Orville's idea of Air-Cooling, as it cooled off just in time for me not to try it, but it'll be warm again come spring, and I'm sure the ice tray and the fan will come out then to keep me cool.

And then I'll be sitting in luxury, Carousel of Progress style.

Friday, September 20, 2013: Day 263: Africa

While I don't have a picture on this post, it's most certainly up there on the list of my favorite blog posts. I mean, it's one of the few I spent more than two hours on (it took over three hours just to do research), and it's probably one of the longest as well.

So what's it about? Well, Africa for one, and how the music program at SNC is headed to Africa this next May. I won't be joining them though. Why? Because I'll be going to Walt Disney World...again! And this post proves that I have good reason to do so! I did some serious statistics and found that it takes you approximately 4.9 hours to experience every attraction in the Magic Kingdom Alone, and you add on at least 8.6 hours to get on the attractions (since I calculated it in a non-busy time), you can spend $3441.12 and have 462 options for food, watch over 4.6 hours of shows and parades and shop at 37 locations.

Which means that it would take you around 25 hours at least to experience everything the Magic Kingdom has to offer. And considering even I haven't seen it all after so many trips, I think there's a good reason for me to be going to WDW twice in 2014.

Sunday, October 27, 2013: Day 300: A Day in the Life of Hook

In what will probably be known forever as the most ridiculous idea I have ever had, this blog post accounts for the 24 hours I spent living like Captain Hook. What does this mean, exactly? Well...I only used one hand, my right hand. Although I could use my left arm and, when I had the Hook on, I could use that, I was not allowed to pick things up or use my left hand in any other way. It was...interesting...to say the least.

Of course, there were a lot of things that were just much more difficult with one hand, for instance, texting is a lot slower with one hand. Anything on your phone is like half the speed...probably because you have half the hand. Shopping is harder, because you don't have a second hand to help carry things. Driving, that's harder too, as is getting out of your bunk bed and carrying your laundry up two flights of stairs.

Curling hair...difficult but possible actually. Getting dressed? Interesting (those leather pants must suck), and putting on Makeup was also an adventure. But by far the hardest thing to do with one hand is plug in my curling iron...which goes into an extension chord that hands from the end of my loft. Yeah, that was really really hard.

But seeing Good Form totally made it all worth it.

Saturday, November 23, 2013: Day 327: Jennifer Morrison

We all have our favorite people in this world, and when I started this blog, I'd have to say that Walt Disney and Harrison Ford, along with Abraham Lincoln, were just about the only ones on my "absolute favorite list." Well, then came September and Once Season...and all that changed. Now I've got two more people on that list: Colin O'Donoghue and Jennifer Morrison.

Jennifer Morrison though, she's on the list for a VERY good reason. The night I wrote this blog post I had been practicing alto for my lesson the next morning, and I happened to take a break by going on Youtube. I ended up finding an interview of JMo on Ellen, and I watched it and basically freaked out.

You see, it turns out that I'm a lot alike Jennifer Morrison, since she went to Disney World 27 times by the time she was 18. I'm not far behind that, since by the time I'm 19 I'll have gone 25.

To sum up the blog post: Jennifer Morrison is my favorite actress.

Wednesday, December 4, 2013: Day 338: Candles

This is one of those blog posts that relate my adventures at college...and it's probably one of my favorites when it comes to those college posts.

At SNC we have holiday meals from time to time, and this one happened to be our Christmas Dinner. The food was great, as always, but what I'll remember from it was actually the candle that sat on our table. My friend Jessica just HAD to blog it out, but later when she and Emily were arguing about it I looked at Megan and said "I want to do it!" So I was like "I hope you enjoy our story tonight...Reflections of Earth" and then blew out the candle. Jessica just glared at me and we were all laughing...and then she blew out the candle on the next table.

It was a wonderful Christmas Dinner.

Thursday, September 19, 2013: Day 262: Talk Like a Pirate!

And since I did a bonus last time, here's one for this post too. I loved this post because I actually wrote the entire thing and then used an online "Translator" to translate the entire thing into pirate...and then retype it into the blog post of course.

I mean, who doesn't like talking like a pirate? I have my Facebook settings set to pirate, so everything my Facebook says is Pirate, and then I tend to say "Mate," and "Aye" and "Bloody Hell" a lot lately...although that's probably this guys fault:

The second half of the year has been just as great as the first, but let's not get all sentimental yet (Hahahaha Once joke right there), since there will be plenty of time for that tomorrow!

Here's today's Disney History: 1980: The longest-running series in Prime-time television history, The Wonderful World of Disney, is canceled (on NBC) after more than 25 years on the air.

Have a magical day!

Day 319: A Miniature World Showcase

This is a post that I've been meaning to do for some time now. Since I've come to college actually, or at least since a month after I've come to college and the food rotation started over. You heard at least once before about some of the food that we have here at St. Norbert, when I talked about the Butterfinger Cupcakes back on day 252. If you click on the 252 you can go read that post. =)

Anyways, the food we have here is wonderful. And I mean wonderful. I love it. Not quite as much as I love food from Disney, but it's still certainly good, and here's yet another parallel between Disney and my own caf here on campus. This entire week was "cultural week" as far as food goes, meaning that every day they had food from a different country. So let's get started, shall we?

Monday: Ireland

As I'm sure you can guess, I thought this day was totally awesome and kind of freaked out...and then tweeted pictures of my food to Colin O'Donoghue. Honestly if I do study abroad I want to go to Ireland, and if this is the kind of stuff I'll get to eat...I'm good. What we have here is Irish Beef Stew, Colcannon (which is potatoes and greens together), Homemade Soda Bread and Homemade Tri Berry Marmalade. Everything was seriously delicious.

Tuesday: El Salvador

I really wish I had been more hungry on this day because there was just so much food and I did not have enough room in my stomach to eat it all. On this Tuesday we have Salvadoran Papusa, which is a thick corn tortilla with tradition fillings. I have no clue what the other stuff is though, although I think the top left is avocado with shrimp salsa or something like that. They incited local chefs of that cuisine to cook some of the food, so they didn't have a full list of the stuff we'd be eating on the promotional sheet they put on the tables. That's what I have a picture of. Either way, this food from El Salvador was great!

Wednesday: Caribbean

Yo ho! Yo ho! A Pirates Life for me! Wait...if Colin O'Donoghue plays Captain Hook, and Colin is Irish, does that mean that pirates eat Irish food too? Huh, I must really be eating the food of swashbucklers this week! The food from the Caribbean was wonderful, just as the last two days, and featured something we actually have quite often in our caf, Caribbean Chicken Breast with Mango Salsa and Red Rice!

Thursday: France

We actually have this meal quite often as well, but that doesn't make it any less special! From France we had Coq au Vin, which is chicken breasts in a red wine garlic sauce (they were SOOOOOO good), French Cassoulet, a hearty strew with ham, potatoes & carrots, Warm Baguette with Herb Butter and French Lemon Cheesecake. Oh, and they even had Oreo Fluff, which I totally count as an attempt at Grey Stuff. It's like someone in the kitchen knows all about what the Grey Stuff is and how it's delicious!

Friday: Japan

The final day of our cultural food week was food from Japan, and that means SUSHI!!!! Now while I personally felt the sushi was a little bit dry (I happen to like mine with more filling and less rice), it was still delicious...and it made me realize that I wanted more sushi. So that's what my family had for dinner this weekend when I went home!

In general, the entire week was kind of like this miniature World Showcase for lunch. I mean, we always have some sort of cultural food at the station called Fusion in our caf, but this week was just really awesome. On Wednesday they also had Native American Flute Music being played by a live performer from the area, and I really wish I had a recording of it to share with you because it set just the right tone for everything. It actually really reminded me of Epcot music that plays throughout World Showcase, especially right before Illuminations.

I'm sure you'll hear more about the food our caf continuously has in the future, because there are other meals that do have Disney references stuck in as well, and I can't wait to actually remember to take a picture of them and share them here on my blog.

Frumpstagram today was Chandy Candy, and thankfully I've got a ton of pictures of lights, unlike a couple of the previous days where I had absolutely nothing. This happens to be not only one of the first lights I found, but also one of my favorite. You can find it on the top floor of Bay Lake Tower right by the Elevators, meaning that it's something I saw just about every day on my last trip (just kidding, I did see it everyday...kind of had to because I passed it at least twice a day).

Here's today's Disney History: 2008: At WDW, Disney's Contemporary Resort opens the Contempo Cafe.

Have a magical day!

Day 301: Good Form

Ahhh, my favorite time of the week: Once Upon a Time time. Always a great time. Actually, I hate Mondays, other than for the single hour I have right after my alto sax lesson and before Wind Ensemble where I get to rewatch the episode of Once Upon a Time for the week, and it also helps that then I've seen it twice and am able to accurately describe my feelings from throughout the episode.

Honestly, speaking of my feelings, this episode had them all over the place. I guess that's to be expected since it's an entire episode about my favorite character: Captain Hook, or should I say Killian Jones? Oh, speaking of that, Spoiler alert starts right now for episode 3x05: Good Form!

That's not how the episode started though. In fact, it started with Neal...and then a surprising clip of Henry and the Lost Boys. Was that Henry using magic right there? I mean, he made a sword...by believing it was a sword. And I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one freaking out about the fact that Henry is becoming a Lost Boy...sounds like Emma & Company will have to save him in more ways than one.

After that, in the opening of Hook's story, we find Emma and everyone in Neal's cave. Emma, struggling with the mattress-like thing Neal apparently slept on all those day in Neverland, encounters yet another pun from Hook about hands. Honestly I love it when he does that because it always makes me laugh. The scene wasn't funny though: Neal (then Bae) apparently stopped counting his days on Neverland. Problematic. Still, we get our first moment of Hook being awesome in his little discussion with Emma...in which she blows him off.

And then Charming. Oh dear God, I am honestly starting to hate that man. Stubborn, and ugh! Does he just forget that he was once just a Shepherd? He has no right to call Hook "just a pirate" and therefore infer that he never has a chance with Emma. If that were the truth, then Charming certainly wouldn't be married to Snow, right? I mean, come on!

But it brings up a great point: How did Hook become a pirate? And that's just what we're going to find out. Turns out that Killian Jones was not always a pirate...but I think we knew that already. Actually, Litenient Jones was an honorable man, always concerned with Good Form (hence the title). He notes that Rum leads to drunkenness, and drunkenness leads to bad form, and when I was working last night on finishing AlcoholEdu for college stuff, they had all these questions about alcohol, and I really wanted to list that quote as a reason why I won't drink. I didn't, but I really really wanted to.

And then we find out that Hook actually has a brother, or had a brother, named Liam, and they set sail aboard what will eventually become the Jolly Rodger on a mission to find a plant for the king. This offers us my absolute favorite shot from I think any of the episodes this season, and especially from this episode. I don't know why, but it just makes me smile every single time. He's so happy! Good to see this side of Hook!

Meanwhile, back in the enchanted forest, Charming continues to be annoying and not telling Snow and Emma about the fact that he's gonna die in what, a few hours? Hook seems pretty annoyed with this, and it turns out that he's annoyed by this because he lost his brother in a similar fashion...dreamshade on the island. He never really had a chance to say goodbye and that's why he's so angry that Charming isn't telling them. He won't have a chance to say goodbye, and more importantly, they won't have a chance to say goodbye.

Back in the enchanted forest (or should I say on the enchanted ocean), The Jolly Rodger is flying with a special sail right to Neverland. And so the brothers set a course to the second star to the right and straight on till morning.

Meanwhile, again, Emma and Company are chatting with Hook, who's letting everyone know of a special sextant that will help them get home. And then there's a tearful goodbye between Charming and everyone...which is also somewhat awkward because, well, Emma doesn't exactly expect hugs from her dad every day of her life, especially ones that he sees as a goodbye. Then Charming and Snow have a moment before Charming heads off with his new mate, Hook!

So while they're off on their adventure, Emma, Mary Margaret and Regina have a little adventure to capture a lost boy to send a message to Henry. They take out his heart, which is a decision that Emma partly made against her mother, and they send the kid off with a mirror to give to Henry that ultimately enables them to see and talk to Henry. Honestly that part was pretty adorable.

Charming and Hook, up on a hike, start to bond and then attack each other, and then bond, and then Hook climbs the mountain and meets Pan, who, in a shocking moment, offers Hook a deal. Hook can leave, on his ship, with Emma. Everyone else has to stay, but he can run off, if only Hook kills Charming and puts his body atop the mountain with his hook in Charming's heart. Huh, didn't know Pan was one for gruesome scenes. Either way, Hook refuses, or does he?

Back in time, Killian and Liam arrive in Neverland and meet Peter Pan, who's pretty confused about who they are and who the King they speak of is, especially because they're looking for Dreamshade. Huh, they think it's medicine, turns out it's not and the king wants to kill them all. At least that's what Killian thinks. Meanwhile Liam is being all adult like and doesn't listen to Peter, even though in reality they should. They hike up the mountain and find the dreamshade, and then, of course, Liam, being all angsty and stupid, cuts himself with the stuff and pretty much dies. Meanwhile Pan appears and lets Killian know that there's special water right there that can heal him. Too bad he fails to mention that the water and the healing power only works on Neverland. Liam dies once they get back. More on that later though.

Charming climbs the mountain up after Hook and they go to find the sextant, but in reality Hook has lead him right to the place where the dreamshade is really thick, behind which is the water that will save his life: but only if he stays on Neverland. Charming almost dies, but drinks it anyway and is healed.

Out on the Enchanted Ocean, Liam is dead. The saddest part about this I feel is that he died in Hook's arms, just as Milah did. Turns out that Killian Jones has had more loss that any of us really knew about. His father abandoned him, who knows what happened to his mom, his brother died in his arms and then his love Milah did the same. No wonder he wants to help these people and maybe get a happy ending!

So they trek back down the mountain and meet back up with Emma, Mary Margaret and Regina. All seems happy again. Charming mentions that they couldn't find the sextant, but that Hook saved his life. He doesn't say how (therefore continuing to lie), but everyone seems pretty happy with the fact that Hook is ow a hero. He didn't bring it on himself or anything. Charming did. So they all drink to Hook and then, CaptainSwan fans prepare yourself, again, we get a heated kiss between Hook and Emma. Doesn't seem too far away from camp though. I mean, Charming and Snow and Regina are totally right there, but you know. Whatever works. More on this in a minute.

Finally, we find out just how Killian Jones went from respectable to pirate. After the death of his brother, and the fact that the King apparently wants everyone dead, Jones gives a rousing speech that turns his crew and himself into a bunch of pirates. Now, if I were on that ship I'd want to be a pirate in that moment too. It was a pretty epic speech if I do say so myself.

But the real shocker of the episode is this: Hook knows. He's now got a big fat secret: Neal is on the island and is alive. Pan told him, and now Hook has to make the decision of whether he should tell Emma or not. Boom. That's about all I can say there, other than the fact that he'd better tell her.

So overall, this is honestly my new favorite episode, probably because it's just Hook, Hook and more Hook, but I thought it was a great backstory with wonderful parallels to everything. A lot to keep track of, but it's not every day a man becomes a pirate, so yeah. And it's not every day a pirate becomes an honorable man again.

Gosh I could talk about this for hours. I have been talking for almost an hour actually because I just basically rewatched the episode as I wrote to get the screenshots. Works for me! I have an hour in between classes on Tuesday, and after this break I have a ton of classes. Either way, if you have seen the Princess Bride, you may or may not have caught up on the reference Hook offers. If not, I have three words for you:

"As You Wish."

You see, in the Princess Bride, the entire thing is about how Wesley says that to Buttercup, and everytime he says "As You Wish" what he really means is "I love You." Turns out that this moment right here is where Hook realizes that he more than just "Fancies" Emma. Looks like we have a legitimate love triangle on our hands.

But I will leave you with this, and a question. Who is in that other box hanging next to Neal!?!

I totally almost forgot (Actually I did forget and am adding this in later!), but here is my Hook Disneybound from this week! Honestly it's probably my favorite so far, just because it was pretty epic to have the hook and everything, and the eyeliner and to match up the pictures. Gosh it was fun. One of my favorite parts, aside from the hook itself was one of the rings I had (yes, I had three, just like Hook himself) has a little ship on it (thanks to my mom!) and that just made me laugh so I had to add it in. Next week was originally Henry, but I've changed that, so you'll have to see what I have in store!

Here's today's Disney History: 1971: The Dapper Dans of Disney World (a barbershop quartet) perform their first show outside of WDW, an evening performance at a convention in Cocoa Beach since relocating to Florida from Disneyland, California.

Have a magical day, and remember: Rum leads to bad form!

Day 262: Talk like a Pirate!

Arr my mateys, today be talk like a pirate day!

Now, if you're wonderin', this entire post is, indeed, in piarte. I found an online translator that turns this entire blog post from our common English into pirate. Now, if any o' this will make sense in t' end I have no idea, but we'll try. I mean, it be talk like a pirate day, after all!

I love talk like a pirate day! I mean, it's a whole day basically dedicated t' Pirates, and thar be a lot o' pirate thin's that I love. Growin' up, I did always love Pirates o' t' Caribbean, and although for some reason I don't really remember it as well from when I was younger than when I was a bit older, I still love the attraction. I think I really got into t' entire attraction not long after t' first Pirates movie came out, and now I certainly count it as a must see attraction (I mean, it be in every way a must see because it has a special connection t' Walt Disney).

But Disney be really gettin' into t' Tal like a Pirate day thin' too. I heard that they're doin' some Limited Time Magic with it too, and online thar was some awesome stuff. Like this from Oh My Disney:

And you know who else be a pirate and be awesome? You guessed it! Captain Hook! But obviously not t' Captain Hook from t' Disney Peter Pan, I'm talkin' Captain Hook from Once Upona  Time. So, t' continue celebratin' Talk Like a Pirate Day, here's some Captain Hook pictures (or Captain Swan, it's hard t' decide). Also, check out that sneak peak released today for Once Season 3!

That last one though. It just never gets old.

Thar's also this:

And so, happy talk like a pirate day! Remember, thar's only 10 days port until t' season 3 premiere o' Once Upon a Time, and I, for one, can't wait!

Today's Frumpstagram post was "ears," and we all know that me favorite pair o' ears be on Mickey Mouse. I mean, they're just so perfectly round and awesome. Plus I feel like it'd be weird and totally beside t' point t' pick t' ears o' anyone else. This be a Disney thin', after all.
And here's today's Disney History (Not in Pirate): 1966: Walt Disney gives what will turn out to be his last press conference. He speaks about the development of the Mineral King Ski Resort in Southern California. It will feature skiing, an alpine village, skating rink, hotels, dormitories for young people and restaurants. Disney's plans will quickly be put to a stop when critics and environmentalists feel the untouched land will be desecrated.

Have a magical day!
